it does its job
Absolutely Amazing Tool!
I’m a vintage collector and recently purchased a Pioneer VSX-5000 Dolby Surround receiver for my living room. I have four speakers (front/rear) and a subwoofer connected. My issue was figuring out how to tune both the frequency crossover and levels on the sub to properly cover a larger frequency range while not muddying up the audio by raising the crossover too high as to create unnecessary overlap between the speakers and sub. Typically this is handled in newer receivers in which an included microphone is placed in different areas of the room for both level and frequency calibration.
Now getting to this app! Using this awesome tool along with a portable audio level meter I was able to both set the balance between front and rear speakers as well as properly set the subwoofer. The best part was being able to actually see the test results along with frequencies and decibel levels, giving me the ability to confirm that I had indeed had everything properly set. Even though this is a vintage system, the sound quality is unbelievable! So far I have only put the volume up to a little under 50% since my ears started to hurt. At that volume I didn’t hear one bit of distortion.
I purchased the upgrade with no hesitation. I’m more than happy to pay $5 to get my system properly tuned. My rating in the app is “close to HiFi” which is good enough seeing that my speakers are old Criterion Omni-2’s with all original drivers.
Also, the test tones are the coolest tones I’ve ever heard. They sound like something out of an old school 70’s sci-fi movie.
Dont waste your money !!

Dear user, Data are there, of course. However, we are sorry about your feedback. TestHiFi is a measurement Tool that delivers a rating about the capability for HiFi of an audio system. As described in the AppStore, TestHiFi comes in three stages (with two in App purchase options). In first stage, TestHiFi performs the complete measurements and delivers an overall HiFi capability rating. As simplified as possible. The second stage delivers more detailed ratings, i.e. one rating for each individual criteria. The third stage opens it up into more details per criteria also with individual measurement results as shown in the tables on the photos of the app in the AppStore. We are not a big company, nor a startup with huge investors behind it, we have to pay all the developments, updates and new developments by ourselves. We do understand that the app is not cheap, especially considering the in app purchase options coming on top for the mesurement results. Since an invention like this takes huge efforts from us personally, time and money wise, we were not able to provide the app for free. Still this app is a tool, which can be used over and over again without additional costs, hence it is cheaper than most drinks :-) Please get in contact with us directly at office@TestHiFi.com so we can find an appropriate solution with you. All the best your TestHiFi team.
