Disappointing
I’m fairly well versed within the VC / startup ecosystem so I was beyond excited to see a company challenge (a) healthcare, and (b) men’s mental health, from a peer-to-peer model. However, you quickly learn this app is far from that. It’s a pay-to-play more than peer-based support.
When trying to destigmatize our gender’s approach to mental health, a free interactive platform would do wonders for growth and limited barriers. Please monetize later and focus on engagement / helping people before asking me to “pay money to honor a man.” For ex: create a Reddit-like thread to foster engagement beyond a journal. Get rid of a “scoreboard” and instead to check in steaks. Gamifying mental health from that competitive perspective is very, very odd. Let people auto-join a pod WITHOUT a professional to truly be peer-to-peer.
I’m more than happy to share my thoughts via a call or email, but just feel like Tethr missed the mark here, big time.
Take a look at “Peanut” for women.

For profit support groups are fundamentally toxic
Sorry can't stand this business model. It feels predatory when I have to for over cash to get anonymity.
I understand providing mental health resources costs money. But this just feels slimy.

An amazing place to share and celebrate.
Found my team for life!
A huge help
It’s no understatement when I say this app has changed my life for the better. Prior to tethr I had no support structure in my life. These men have welcomed me with wide arms, allowing me to be strong on good days and weak on the bad ones, without fear of judgement or loss. The kindness and passion of men both in the community, on monthly calls, and even from their staff has been astounding. The app has room to grow but the community is well worth any bugs I’ve ever found.

Login options
On the Home Screen of the app, you can only create an account with a google, Facebook, or apple login. This is a privacy concern, as it means the app can track you across these providers. This is a red flag for me, that privacy is not the first priority. I may reconsider when they allow you to login with an email and unique password.

Glad I found it
It's like talking to friends you've know for years. Everyone is very supportive.
Sorely needed
One thing that has been missing from online communities is a way for men to get support and guidance from other men. Now that void has been filled with this fantastic app called tethr. Tethr helps men to provide peer support for each other opening up an outlet for men to stop suffering in silence. Please download this app if you want to get peer support from other men. Thank you to tethr for this app.

This is what I needed
The concept of peer to peer male support is so overlooked. I have needed this for a long time. This community paired with excellent technology will truly have an impact on men’s mental health. Definitely recommend everyone to give it a try!
tethr has been so helpful.
Such an incredible community of men who are growing, healing, celebrating and sharing. Here every emotion is welcome and is supported. So thankful to Matt, Addison and all the men of tethr who are making this world a better and more accepting place.
Exactly what we need
So glad someone finally created an app like this! Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Really simple / easy to use.
