What's New in Texas Fly Fishing Journal

2.43.0

October 22, 2026

A small but important update, mostly under the hood. Improved: - I updated the framework the app is built on, along with the camera, photo, offline storage and purchase components. That includes a security fix, so updating is worth it even though nothing changes in how you log a trip or a catch. Fixed: - If camera access is turned off for the app, Take Picture used to just do nothing. Now it tells you where to turn it back on: Settings, then Texas Fly Fishing Journal. - The Units setting is gone. It looked like you could switch units there, but it never actually changed anything — sorry about that. To see lengths in centimeters, use the in/cm switch on the fish length card. Weights stay in pounds. Thanks for fishing with the app. Tight lines!

Great App

Great app! Love it! Useful for so many things! Great creator, super helpful!

Response from developer

Thanks, Coach! That means a lot. I built this for Texas anglers, so hearing it's useful for so many things tells me it's doing its job. If there's something you wish it did, let me know. Tight lines. — John

Fishing on my Mind

I really like this new app. It is a great tool to help anglers log a day on the water—from fly box and rod to what rod was used and what you caught and the fly that was used. AI is pretty accurate, navigation by the nap wks well, and I enjoy the Leader Board, too. Dedication and hard work went into building this app.
Congrats!

Response from developer

Thank you! Fly box, rod, fly and catch all in one place is exactly what I was going for, and I'm glad the map and the Leaderboard are working for you. Since you wrote this, I've added 281 river and lake access points to the map, covering every region of Texas. Hope they help you find some new water. Tight lines. — John

Great logging app!

This has been a fun tool to keep up with what I have been catching and where. The AI does a pretty good job of identifying fish and length. And it allows you to load them at the end of the trip or much later. Well worth using!

Response from developer

Thanks for this! Logging at the end of the trip, or weeks later, is how I fish too, so I'm glad that works for you. Good news on the AI: since you wrote this, I moved fish ID to a newer model, and it's noticeably more accurate now. Tight lines. — John
