A fantastic app!!
This app is fantastic for teachers. As an NQT there is a lot of jargon out there to remember in your first year of teaching! I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to remember all of the vocabulary and definitions that you are required to teach, but with this app at my fingertips, I am much more confident that I am doing the job properly. There are even suggestions for teaching strategies. :)

LOVE IT!
This app is a godsend- a user friendly, simple but incredibly effective way to develop writing with children. As a year 6 teacher- I love it!
Love it! But hard on older eyes...
Fabulous to have this at your fingertips on iPhone. Just wish the app would allow rotation to landscape view as the text is v. small on iPhone screen and magnifying means you have to constantly move the text to read across the page. So, please app developers...!
The best literacy app on iTunes.
I first discovered Alan Peat when his “25 ways to improve your sentences” was recommended to me by a colleague. Alan Peat clearly understands teachers, the material is simple and quick to use, which meant I could teach each method to the whole class, as well as using them for ‘Guided Writing’ interventions with smaller groups.
The proof is in the pudding. Writing standards raised immediately with children using grammatically mature sentences - and hugely enjoying the process. Within a month or so, all other teachers in my phase were using these techniques. During extended writing sessions, children can quickly and decisively be prompted to improve their work by being asked to, for example, add a BOYS sentence.
In sum, this is as close to a necessary purchase for KS2 teachers that I have found.

Must-buy for KS2 teachers!
I wish I'd discovered Alan Peat's books/ideas when I started teaching - his sentence names & ideas not only work (& fast - what's wrong with that?!) but even the most reluctant writers (boys included) get excited about using Exciting Sentences & get quite competitive about coming up with the best examples. Don't struggle with complicated terms for sentence structure that turns kids (& some teachers) off - learn about 2A, Emotion Word, (comma) and so many other Exciting Sentences. This app would be a bargain at a fiver - BUY IT!
