You gotta give it to them!!
Excellent game overall. This game plays much like the old school Mortal Kombat games which to me means a lot. All the stages are well designed and the music is excellent! Could use an alternate phrase or two during power moves. I wonder if some of the sweet instrumentals will ever make it to a new album....?

Bad Controls
A fun game when it works. Controls are horrible though, d-pad is very unresponsive, and often has a mind of its own.
Callum
Amazing game, especially for an avid coheed fan.
More AW
I love C&C's music but I'm pretty unfamiliar with the story so it was fun to see some of the characters and levels.
As for the game the controls feel clunky and the game is kind of "meh." I'd love to see some dialogue and story in it.
What I really want is more Amory Wars video games set in this universe so I'm hoping my contribution by purchasing this game will help with development of future Amory Wars video games.

A personal experience
I am entirely thrilled to participate in the encompassing tale of The Amory Wars through a gaming medium! It is an honor to dive into this virtual setting.
Sick
This game is pretty amazing.
Appreciate the idea but,
The follow through is sub-par.
The "Story Mode" has absolutely no story to it, it is just a pre-generated sequence of battles.
The engine is extremely choppy, unresponsive, and unfavorable to the common 2d fighter. Attacks are quite delayed if they happen at all, the special move toggle is independent of player position, the defense action works <50% of the time, and the characters' attack speed and damage are not balanced.

What's with all the five stars
This is probably the most unbalanced fighting game I've ever played. I love that Evilink is making the effort to dive into this market and I love The Amory Wars but this game is bad. Better controls would do wonders for this game considering it lacks in content. More responsive buttons would help a lot too. I'm not saying the game needs to be super fast but it's slow as it is.

Gameplay improved
The update has improved gameplay, but like most fans I wish this had more story elements in it. I love the little nods to the music and story with character lines and locations, but I think there should be more. The controller button is still a little touchy. I think a d-pad variant might work better.

Broken gameplay
Ignore the fanboys, Street fighter has more plot than this, the everything is just off and sloppy. I love coheed but Claudio should be embarrassed that this game was released in this state. Clearly has plenty of problems. They should have done some JRPG style game, would be way better than this crap

Such a fun game!
It's like having Injustice on your phone!
It's a really fun game to play, especially while listening to Coheed and Cambria!!!

Tasty
As clunky as it was I loved it before, so I can't imagine how fun it'll be now that it's better!
New Update Is Great!
My biggest issue with the game was how clunky the D-Pad was and how long the matches ran. This update greatly improved both of these. The D-Pad feels much more responsive now and matches are a lot quicker. Would still love to see some bonus material, but overall very happy with the app!
Just a tiny bit better
The gameplay with this update is a little better, but its still missing something. It just doesn't feel natural
Better?
I really hope this update brings this game justice. Coheed and Cambria has been perfect. Lets make this game up to par people!
Cool game. Needs update.
The controls need to be improved.
Another good thing would be to have the app icon say "Amory Wars" on the screen instead of the "The Amory Wars" to not have the ellipsis. Right now it looks like "The...Wars" on iPhone screens.
Keep up the good work.

Suffers from poor controls
I downloaded the game on the iPad (4th gen) because I'm a huge Coheed fan. The swipe mechanism for special attacks is cool. The directional/movement controls, however, are extremely poor, to the point that the game is frustrating instead of fun, and borderline unplayable.
Awesome idea but...
Really cool thought, but the controls make this the absolute WORST iOS fighter I've played. I've got KoF and SFIV on the iOS, and they are quite enjoyable. The "joystick" only responds if you keep you thumb constantly on it and even then, you must move within the small circle of movement they give you. Stray outside of it, and your movements won't register. Should be an easy patch fix, so hopefully they throw us fans a bone!

3 and a half stars.
The only thing preventing this game from being good is a lack of options (sound slider and more) and very unresponsive and clunky controls. If these are fixed, then I'd definitely say this is a 5 star fighting game for iOS.
Great looks, poor execution a big disappointment
Being a fan of the band and the comic series, as well as loving beat em up games I thought I'd give this a go. The graphics are slick but the awful controls and clunky gameplay make this a huge disappointment. The comics and music surrounding the amory wars are rich and detailed, but this feels more like a fans bedroom flash game than an official associated app. Stick to buying the music and comics, you're not missing anything here without the underlying mechanics getting a massive overhaul!
