This is an excellent alternative to the expensive DVDs.
2025 Still No Sound (update has sound!!)
Overall it is the same as the book which is nice for me as a student so I don’t have to carry the book to school everyday but it is still upsetting not to have audio. I don't know if that will ever be fixed. The app loads up just fine. Edit: folks we have sound now!!!

Simply a gem
I have had this app since 2014. I still dip into it from time to time. A wonderful complement to the book and the DVD series.
Still no sound on videos but content good.
The audio on the video sections with Richard are still silent. Doesn’t seem to be any way via settings to correct this. The written content is great but the app as far as I can see is broken. And it is the app not my iPad.
Sound not working
Great app, missing out on videos as there is no sound still. Really upset about this for the price.
It works now
Now after an update it’s working and I’m a lot happier it helps to see the animations!

Very interactive "book"
It took some getting used to at first but it's a good mix of video and reading material. Sounds kind of obvious but make sure you take silent mode off of your iPad to listen to the audio.
As of 08/2021 this app is working again, but…
08/22/2021. Update: This app has been updated recently, so I repurchased it. All seems to be working good now on a M1 iPad Pro . Note that the iPad purchase price of $34.99 US, does not work on the new Mac M1 computers, looks like you would have to pay for it again on the M1 Macs for it to work.
DO NOT BUY! As of 10/07/2020 Does not load after the intro animation, the skip button does not work, does not go beyond a black screen! Tried restarting iPad Pro, deleting app and reloading, but nothing pass the intro animation of the books cover. Will be requesting a refund from Apple, because this app does not work as advertised. It’s unfortunate that Apple knows about this, and other apps that don’t work, but still allow them to be sold to customers, wasting our time and money, because sometimes they don’t give back refunds. Richard Willams would be extremely disappointed that this has happened to his work after his passing.

Used to crash, but back to working
The book is excellent. The app used to be, but it’s now unusable, at least on iOS14.
Update: the latest update fixed the crashes, and it’s back to being invaluable. Thank you for updating the app!

Used to be good
This app was a great reference when I was in school. Now none of the videos play making the app almost useless. This is a travesty that Richard Williams great work has been left to the hands of amateurs. I think I speak for all animators when I say ‘Fix it’ please this is not rocket science here. You are denying future generations access to this masterpiece.

Doesn’t even start
The star I gave it is for the opening animation. It’s the only thing I can judge, because it’s the only thing that worked. Upon further reflection, I might deduct this star for the insulting sexism of the Jessica Rabbit bit in the animation, but at least it worked.

Needs a LOOOOOOONG overdue update
Keeps freezing on the intro. Running on a 2020 iPad pro
DO NOT BUY. DOESNT WORK AT ALL.
I would have given this very expensive Ap zero, The Ap does not work at all on either my iPad Pro 9.7 inch or 12 inch. Despite trying to download several times on full iOS update. I only get the short intro animation then nothing happens and the Skip button does not work. I got no response from Faber to correspondence on this issue and request for refund.

Total crash failure. Last update 3 years ago. They do not care about their customers. Do. It waste your money on this or them.
Great resource - but PLEASE UPDATE! (2020)
I love the book and the app is very valuable to be able to see the frames, pause, scrub through etc. It’s packed full of great content. -but, PLEASE update this app to work smoothly on the new OS for 2020! Every time I launch the app, I have to watch the entire intro, “skip” does nothing. If I accidentally back out of the app, I have to restart it and watch it over again. Don’t get me wrong, the intro is great - but the developers just need to iron out some bugs and dust off the interface, because I hope it sticks around for years to come!
