What's New in The Archivist App

6.1

November 5, 2026

WHAT'S NEW IN 6.1 NEW - Photos tool: clean up your camera roll. The Archivist groups photos that look alike (burst shots, retakes), you compare them side by side and keep the best. Deletes are queued so you can undo them, and a Recently deleted list shows what you cleared. Find it under Tools in the picker. - Video Games, rebuilt: tap a game on the Game Shelf to lift its case, tilted, over the dimmed shelf, and swipe or use the arrows to move to the next game. Cases are drawn at their real relative sizes for each system (GameCube, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, N64, Game Boy and more) and open like a door. - Video Games: fast search with box art, barcode scan, and a list of the systems each game was released on. Choose Currently playing, Finished or Next up when you add a game. Filter by system, drag a game exactly where you want it, and extra shelves stack under the first. - Three Shelves in every room: Music, Comics, Figures, Closet and Video Games show your three shelves above your Top 8. Pick your own with Change. - Search on every shelf: Video Games, Comics, Music, Figures, Closet and Board Games. - Reading timer on your Lock Screen: start, pause, resume and save from the Lock Screen, the Dynamic Island or a widget (iOS 17). - Board Games: lay a game flat and stack up to three in one square. Each opens on its own and can be dragged out of the pile. - Bookshelf: books without cover art get a drawn spine, plus six new decorations: a mug, a clock, a picture frame, a lamp, a pencil cup and a fountain pen. - Graded cards sit in a realistic slab with a PSA-style label. - Month and Year in Review, redesigned: save a Post or a taller Story for Instagram, with bigger covers and your numbers in a clear panel. A notification arrives when a month or a year ends. - Every world: arrows on an item's card (and a swipe) to move between items. - Friend activity from every world, with buttons to turn each world on or off. - A hint under every world's shelf controls explains how to drag items. CHANGED - Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets are free for everyone. - Uploading your own photos (Room pictures, craft project, shop-visit and card photos) is now part of Plus. Photos you already added stay, and your profile picture stays free. IMPROVED - Drag and drop in every world: hold an item near the top or bottom of the screen and the page scrolls. - Every edit screen works like the Bookshelf's: Close on the left, Save at the top right. - Tap a filter button again to turn it off. - Video Games: thicker spines, art without a colored backing, a smooth open-the-case animation, and search that also asks Steam and Wikidata when the main database is down. - Board Games: Recommend to a Friend and Lay it flat sit under the cover, and search shows box art. - Bookshelf: Select and Decorations stay at the top as you scroll. FIXED - Bookshelf: a book dropped next to a bookend or plant lands on the side you chose. - Setting a rating or spice rating no longer moves you to the next book. - Dragging a Top 8 card onto another slot swaps them. - Year read follows the date you finished a book. Bug fixes and polish throughout.
