Bring the truth

What happened to the obituaries ??

What a disservice to our community . The pictures and timely manner they were available was fantastic. Then they abruptly stopped. Please bring them back

Obituaries

I am very very disappointed you have stopped printing local obituaries in TBC Mobile.

Uninstalled

I see more national news than local? There were 5 murders in the span of 7 hours and not a peep on your Newspaper app😑

Comics

How come no comics.

Horrible website β€” nothing updated. The worst.

Newsprint alternative is a delight

The Californian's hybrid app mimics its print edition precisely, page by page. Thumb through the paper page by page with virtually no load time slowdowns. Use two fingers to zoom in on text, photos, comic strips, or the fine print of legal notices. Zap back to full-fledged earlier issues from days earlier. But tap on a story and β€” voila! β€” a traditional web page view appears. Best of both worlds, and with no inky fingers.

News arrives quick

I like this app, I can see local news information as it occurs. I receive the information on a regular basis and am able to get a quick summary.

Smyway

Let's get that changed, shall we? Ahhh. Solution: information not suffocation.

Hard to find

There was supposedly a story on the paper's 100-something anniversary, but I couldn't find it.

So what's the deal?

Are only the first few lines of a story free and you have to pay for the rest? No real reason for this app now.

Update: App works great now, no issues.

Local News

TBC does a decent job of brining you local (Bakersfield and Kern County) news, sports, and other local items in a timely fashion.

I haven't had any crashes or problems with the app.

Thanks for a job well done,
David...

Great

Love getting local news updates!

Pretty good!

The Californian's desktop website is awful, but the app isn't bad at all. It works well on my iPhone 5s. Clean and simple interface with very few crashes.

News at its best

I love this app. I get up to date and breaking news notifications on my phone letting me know what is happening around Kern co and nearby locations.

The app

Not a bad app. Helps me stay informed with my work schedule.

More Ads than Articles

The app looks nice from screenshots, but once you download it, you quickly realize how unusable it is. The ads are inline with the articles, and at first glance they look identical. There are just as many ads as articles, and there just isn't that much content on the landing page.

This app needs to be updated for higher resolution phones, it looks like its made for the iPhone 4.

I've waited and waited, and I'm still waiting

While the app could be called news, the UI is clunky.
The app doesn't support the larger screens found on the 6 & 6 Plus. I use a Plus and it feels like the remote my Grandma had with the big buttons. This makes the ad, you can't get rid of, on the bottom even more annoying. How many times do I need to see Kate Upton's chest to sell me Game of War? I don't want to be your hero.
There is ads between stories. There is ads at the bottom. Hell, the app even started up with an ad that filled the whole screen.
The more I write, the more I think this doesn't even deserve 3 stars. I'm going to change it until they can actually make an app that functions.

But it do has news. So I gess it be good for some folks.
