What's New in The Blue Alliance

3.4.2

May 17, 2026

Hey y'all - this update contains a lot of missing parity features. The Blue Alliance is built and maintained by volunteers - help us build The Blue Alliance for iOS at https://github.com/the-blue-alliance Features: * Added support for ALL playoff types in the Event Matches list - including double elimination brackets * Playoff/elimination match cells now show Alliance Number (A1, A2, etc.) in the match cell * Subdivision names now show in the match cells for matches on finals fields (ex: Einstein) * Match cells now show RP dots for 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 season matches. * Event Insights for 2023, 2024, and 2025 are now supported in the app. * 2025 Match Breakdowns are now fully implemented — auto / teleop coral split by level (L1–L4), processor / net algae counts, per-robot barge endgame, and a coral scoring map. * Match Breakdowns for 2020–2022 and 2025 now split auto / teleop / overall instead of just showing the overall total. * Ranking Point rows in breakdowns will now only show for quals matches where they apply. * myTBA now only shows fully loaded cells - no more placeholder cells. Matches will no longer show in myTBA views. * Event Stats (OPR, DPR, CCWM) now has a Team # sort option * Long event names now wrap to multiple lines in Search, MyTBA, and event lists instead of being truncated * New loading view for the Team header view - should be less jumpy and more pretty * B teams are now properly supported for offseason events, will link to their parent team on tap * Surfaces webcast dates as well as viewer counts + online status event webcasts * Pit Map: Event → Info now has a "Pit Map" row when TBA has a pitmap published, with your favorited teams automatically highlighted. Tapping a team's Pit Location on Team @ Event Summary opens the same pitmap with that team highlighted. * Tapping a match push notification (upcoming match, match score, match video) now opens that match directly. Bug fixes: * Restored team nicknames on District Rankings, Awards, District Points, and Team@Event Stats (were falling back to "Team N") * Restored event names on Team@District → Summary and Breakdown (rows / section headers were showing raw keys like "2026mibat") * 4-column insights cells no longer appear tappable * Fixed 2026 insights rendering when average win score is missing * Search now allows for using the year in the search string * Team page no longer shows a doubled "Team N / Team N" header when a team has no nickname * Fixes Nexus links not directing to CMP division pit maps * Pushing from an event-scoped page (rankings, alliances, awards, matches) into a team now opens the team on the event's year — e.g. tapping a team from a 2024 event lands on the team's 2024 page instead of defaulting to the current year

Crashes

Just got an update and when I click on the school’s listing the app crashes. I was able to find it by a search.

Doesn’t seem to load any recent events

I was only seeing regionals from 2 years ago.

Great but…

It’s a great app and all just is super slow so you don’t know your place until a while after a couple of matches and then by then it already had changed

Not compatible

My phone says I can’t use this update. I have an older phone. Is there a way for you to remove it from my update que? Whatever version I have has picked up the 2024 schedule. Thanks.

Search is utterly nonfunctional

I’ll preface this by saying this is specifically a review for the iOS app, not TBA as a whole

The search function just plain does not work. Trying to search for a team or event will immediately show “No results found”, or a loading spinner that never stops loading. I’ve tried deleting search and network caches with no improvement.

In addition, the TBA app is associated with urls for thebluealliance.com, and any links from, for example, Chief Delphi, will open the app instead of a browser tab. Which would be fine, except that those links only open the home tab of the app without actually loading the data from the URL. Trying to look at a team or event is frustrating when the app integration doesn’t work and I can’t use the search function to find it. I end up needing to either scroll through the list of all teams or events or just give up in frustration
