Useless on a Phone

Why anyone would want a replica of a printed paper on a phone or tablet is beyond me. It is impossible to read anything without scrolling all over the screen.

Recent update a mess

The September 2024 update has made the app nearly useless.

E-Paper vs Globe App

What a cluster. Purchased the epaper (apparently) on iPad yesterday. Had the full app on iPhone. iPhone said no subscription.
Why in gods name are two apps with same name in store. Why does company not recognize a purchase on one as a purchase of paper in either version?
Waste of 90 minutes search for solution with Apple Support.

A downgrade

I often find it difficult to access the Globe as I cannot make the previous day’s addition disappear. That was not a problem with the previous iteration of this app. Needs to be fixed.

Not a good as the old globe App

A few days after I stopped being able to open the globe app on my old iPad I contacted support and was advised that they were phasing out the globe app and I would have to use the e paper. I’m not impressed… pages often won’t slide over, sometimes they are blank. It’s glitchy, there is a little page icon blocking part of the articles. Why did you have to fix it… It wasn’t broken, actually compared to the Globe app that I gave up on in disgust 15 ? Years ago it was excellent (it would miss a few things but not crashing was a plus).

Problems with new update

You can’t load the current edition without closing and reopening the app.
The close button doesn’t work (iPad).
The app support button in the App Store goes nowhere.

Great presentation

ePaper looks terrific and works seamlessly. It’s like reading the physical paper — but much quicker.

You are idiots

Disgraceful app. If you are older, this app is unworkable. Worse it is not handicap accessible. Shame on the Globe. You get your money every month but you shut the app off to people who pay. You steal from the elderly.

App is so easy to use

We switched to the digital Globe a few years ago and are very happy. So convenient to be able to read the Globe anywhere. And downloading editions is a great feature. Highly recommended!

Very good

Not perfect but the best newspaper e-reader I have found so far

Getting Very Tired of its Problems

All too often the editions get screwed up— missing sections, no edition at all, headlines and bylines mixed in with metadata from the editing software, etc.

It’s clear that there is no-one doing basic quality control.

Sundays

Another Sunday morning, another Boston Globe edition that is missing or partially uploaded. Today I have the comics and the Magazine, no news. Why can’t the Globe train its Sunday personnel to upload the paper properly? So frustrating to not have a paper in the morning.

Easy

This is my fourth or fifth year as a subscriber and I find this format to be easy and very convenient. Like the fact that if Ive missed a day of reading the paper I can go back to any issue I like and reread. Also you have the ability to download any article and send it to yourself or others. I also like to read the paper in the evenings in bed without much light on , I find to be a nice feature or online reading .
I highly recommend this app!

Annoying Bug

I subscribe through Apple. The last year or so on my monthly subscription renewals I’m forced to delete and reinstall the app. Since the latest monthly renewal I’m forced to do this every day. Customer service has ignored my requests for help.

Download

You ne Re know when it downloads. Slow and clunky.

Hate this app

I just want to read the paper. That’s all. But every morningg when I open the app there’s yesterdays paper and I can’t clear it to get todays paper. So delete the app and reinstall it in order to get todays paper. I have complained multiple times to customer service (huh) and get no response. Its maddening

Great when it works

They can’t keep this app working correctly. Sections missing. Complete issues missing. What’s the problem??

Ok, not great

I like being able to view the paper in its original format, and I like that one can click on an article and it will open in its own window. When forwarding an article, the app will often grab just the picture and caption and forward that instead of the whole article. I haven’t found a solution to this other than blocking and copying to paste in another application. Finally, and this is a real issue, every so often the paper is just not there, and all you can get is yesterday’s edition. This usually fixes itself sometime during the day, but it is unacceptable when you read the paper first thing in the morning. I don’t know if this is an app issue or whether someone at the Globe just forgets to push the edition.

Satisfied

I read the Globe on my iPad Air, and I really like being able to share articles. I don’t like being unable to comment on articles.
