They don’t update
Subscribed in 02/26 and they have not uploaded Fall 2025 or Winter 2025 yet. Don’t bother if you are interested in keeping up with recent issues.
Hard crash on open
Title says it all. Completely non functional on iPhone 16 pro as of last update 24 October 2024.

As other recent posters have stated, I cannot access my library and I’m paying for a monthly sub through iTunes but still asking me to buy each issue. Seems like there’s a gap somewhere.

Good mag, terrible app
I'm just about fed up with wasting time trying to use my subscription. Downloads are unbelievably slow, they usually hang after a few pages. I tried deleting the app and reinstalled it, to no avail.
It should not require a genius to build an app allowing subscribers to read this magazine!

They have done a lot to get there digital issue, well issue, fixed. Digital issues resolved.

App is way better now
Ive noticed the past three issues (summer, fall, and winter 2019) all appeared about the same time as the print issue in the fly shops, so it appears the Drake’s customer service has finally caught up to its great content.

Not sure where some of these comments come from, no issues for me at all. But even if there were some, the content would be worth it! Its so easy to sit down and get happily lost in the stories found in The Drake. You can tell - well before the “by line” - that the authors love what they do. Mix in plenty of humor, amazing photography, insightful commentary and it all adds up to the BEST publication available for fly fishing enthusiasts! I LOVE The Drake, nothing else compares - you won’t regret it!

Updated Review
7/12/19 Another update. The summer 2019 issue was available on the app yesterday, the same day that the print issue was available. As noted in my previous review below all problems with the delay in the availability of the issues in the app have been resolved. Excellent magazine!

The content and functionality of the app are fine. In fact the magazine itself is excellent.
As you might see from other reviews, there has been a history of the issues on the app not being available until much later than the print version. On April 1 of this year, I posted a review about the digital version lagging about half a year behind the print version and the lack of response to my emails about this. Here is an update of that review. I received a thoughtful email from the editor (Tom Bie) explaining the challenges they’ve had with the digital platform and their plans to improve. The app version is now caught up with the print version, and the most recent issue is available on the app. Based on this, I think the issue has been resolved, and I anticipate the digital version of the summer 2019 issue will be available the same time as the print issue. I’m glad to see the Drake Magazine step up and remedy this. Having a viable, environmentally friendly alternative to the paper version of the magazine is important to many fly fishers who are concerned about the environment.

App is terrible
Love the magazine but the app is terrible. I have been charged the subscription rate monthly but it has not updated the offering since Winter last year.

Frustrating
Get off the river for 5 minutes and release the digital versions quicker. This is becoming sad. 5 star content and 1 star service.
Why does digital copy lag behind.
I can get a physical copy or read digital excerpts MONTHS before getting my digital copy. Now mid-February 2019 and still no Winter 2018 edition.
Great mag, app still slow
The reviews from years ago about the digital versions slow releases till apply! It’s Feb 12, 2019 and the winter hard copy has been our for a few months but still no digital copy. I expect I’ll enjoy it though whenever it comes out
Digital subscription?
I have just the digital subscription or what I thought was the subscription. The summer magazine is out yet I have yet to have access to it. Great magazine but don't bother with this app unless you want to read it a month late. If this changes I'll change my rating.

LOVE the magazine and these guys do great work BUT dont expect to get your digital copy before or even the same time your fly shop has their phisical copies. I hope this changes soon or I will have to cancel my subscription.. this quarter was better than last only a couple days behind.
