About

The Global Pulse is a news reader that shows how outlets on the left, center and right cover the same story: who reports it, when, and in what words. EXPLORE Search for any event, or tap a Trending topic: names that appear in headlines from at least two sides in recent days. "Latest from each side" shows the newest headlines from Left, Center and Right. COMPARE COVERAGE Every comparison starts with a one-line answer, then shows: • Coverage: how many articles each side published, and how many of each side's outlets covered it • When each side reported: a timeline of publish times • Headlines by side, which open on the publisher's own website • Words each side uses: words one side uses more often than the others, counted statistically, not by AI. Shown when there are enough headlines from sources whose terms allow it. • Headline changed: earlier versions of a headline that the app has seen, for sources that allow it • Primary sources: government and parliament statements that mention your search words • See how others cover it: buttons that open other outlets' own search pages We count at most 5 articles per outlet per day, so one busy outlet can't outweigh its side. FOLLOW A TOPIC Follow up to 10 topics. Explore shows what changed since you last looked, such as "Right is now covering this". If you turn on notifications, you get at most 3 a day, only when another side starts covering a topic. iOS decides when the app may check in the background. Everything happens on your iPhone; there is no account and no push server. SHARE Share a comparison as an image with the counts per side, or as text with links. AI COMPARISON, WHERE ALLOWED On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, a short AI comparison appears for some stories. It runs on your iPhone, uses only headlines from sources whose terms allow it, links every point to its headlines, and may contain errors. For many stories it isn't shown. Everything else works without it. YOUR OWN FEEDS Add the RSS or Atom feeds you already read, or import an OPML file from another reader, and choose a side for each. Your feeds are shown as headline and link only, and are never analyzed or sent to AI. SAVED AND YOUR READING BALANCE Save a comparison to read it offline. Turn on "Your reading balance" to see which sides' articles you open. It's off by default, stays on your iPhone, is deleted after 30 days and isn't included in backups. SOURCES YOU CAN CHECK Sources are shown in tiers: outlets with open licenses or published feed terms, grouped as Left, Center or Right; government and parliament sources; outlets we only link to; and your own feeds. Every outlet has a page that explains why we placed it where we did, how the app uses it, and links to independent ratings. Some sides have fewer sources than others, because we only include outlets whose terms allow this use. Left, Center and Right describe an outlet's overall coverage, not single articles. It's a simplification that helps you see where coverage differs; it doesn't tell you what to think. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Free, with no account, no ads and no tracking. The app downloads whole news feeds and finds matching articles on your iPhone. Your search words only go to an outlet if you tap one of its search buttons. HEADLINES AND LINKS ONLY We don't show article text or images. Tapping a headline opens the article on the publisher's website. Some publishers require a subscription to read the full article.
