The sound player does not work
The content is very good but the app is just a cheap webpage and the sound player doesn’t work properly. When you try to play any episode, the sound player gets stuck, doesn’t show any signs of playing back, one minute later starts playing/streaming with no indication of progress in the sound player so you can’t pause it or stop it. You have to force the app to close. I stick to the original podcast.

Excellent !!!!
Although I'm a scientist, I received a classical education (Latin, Greek , etc). Have travelled in Italy and Greek. Learned a little here and there ....but it never "all came together" until this app.
Well presented and executed audio history app. The app might be useful in a language or history course. There is mild profanity so the teacher may wish to review first.
I'm receiving an excellent review and entertainment at the same time.

A surprising find
When I first downloaded this app I thought it would be a typically light history for the masses. Instead it turned out to be comprehensive, concise and erudite - whilst managing to remain a joy to listen to.

Missing episodes
I love the podcast. I bought this app because Stitcher didn't have the first 66 episodes. The app worked great for a month or so, but now it won't display episode 22 to 66. Maybe it's my old iPod touch at fault, but if it's not compatible with the touch. They should say so.

History of Rome
Being someone that has always been interested in Roman history this is perhaps my favourite app I have downloaded and I have spent many hours listening to it. The newest version doesn't have the problems of not all the episodes being available. Listening to this podcast is great fun and so easy on the iPad and I enjoyed it completely.

Great podcast...HATE this app!
This app "allows" you to star and download certain episodes. Except...every time you close the app it just deletes your favorites and deletes any episodes you've downloaded! WTF! What's the point of allowing customization...if it just reformats everything every time you close the app?!? Seriously, incompetence like this should not be rewarded by more downloads.

The Coronation Street of Ancient History Podcasts
I just paid £9 on Saturday at the cinema to be bored senseless for 100 minutes! I've listened to maybe 100 hours of this for £1.19! Not bad..
Best podcast... Hopefully better app
The roman history podcast is wonderful. I bought the app hoping to support the podcast.
Pros: download for offline listening
Cons: app doesn't do much else

Good podcast but...
I'm a huge THoR fan, but there are two problems with this app: (1) It can be slow sometimes and takes alot of time (sometimes minutes) to buffer when you try to rewind 30 secods or even in the middle of the episode. (2) It's a huge data hog. I listened to an episode 3 times and it cost me 350 meg of data transfer, which took me over my 200 meg limit :( The lesson here for everyone is to make sure you're using wireless when you listen to the episodes with this app. Alternatively, you simply use the old-fashioned method of downloading the episode frim iTunes or the blog.
I would normally give it 2 stars, but because the quality of the THoR podcast itself I'm giving it an extra star.

Brilliant educational app
Worth the money. Even though you can download the podcasts for free, it's still worth paying for a lesson in Roman history. Well read and very interesting, this is a must have for anyone slightly interested in ancient Rome. The interface is very accessible, and the podcasts themselves are
informative without being too technical or over simplified.
