Going down hill
Not all change is good
Terrible app
One complaint (which another reviewer also noted) is that now it takes several clicks to open the next edition. Maybe you could provide some options for how we want the app to start up.
I miss the bar at the top that gave fast access to the different sections. Now it takes an additional click to get there. And when I select a section, that section isn’t first in the array of thumbnail pages, it’s last.
And why do the comics keep moving around? Every day it seems the pages get shuffled. And finally, what happened to the “Shoe” comic strip?
This newspaper seems to be going the same way lots of products have gone — I’m paying more and more for less and less.

[May 2024 Update]
Well, they’ve completely changed the UI, but they haven’t fixed any of the underlying bugs. I use the iPad version. Closing the iPad to go get a cup of coffee will mean you probably have to start over. I have yet to read a single issue without at least one crash.

This is especially annoying when working the puzzles, because if you have already partially solved one, ha!! Too bad, have to start all over!
The index is also inadequate. If you’re looking for coverage of a particular story, unless they happened to include it as one of the two or three they specifically list in the index, you just have to search. Is it in the South section, or maybe the Nation? No way to know except to swipe your way through the different sections. Then, of course, there’s a good chance it’s not there at all, because their coverage is very spotty.
There used to be more Opinion columns in the printed newspaper too. Now it seems there’s barely one, if that.
And finally, there seem to be a lot fewer obituaries. I suppose fewer people are willing to pay the exorbitant price they charge when they can’t even get a printed copy of it.
