V7.0.0 update crashes every time you open an article
Do not update until they fix this.
The Irish Times app is deeply disappointing
For a newspaper that was very early on the Internet in Ireland the app is a dud. My biggest complaint is that the front page repeats the same stories multiple times while “hiding” a lot of good material inside. They clearly don’t invest in it. Do better, TIT!
Blank white screen
Nothing opens now other than the black background and a blank white screen. Can't open any articles, navigate, or do anything. What am I paying 11.99 a month for?
As awful as ever
the Irish Times make perhaps the worst apps you will see, not just the main newspaper app, but what possibly wins the title for worst app ever, MyHome.ie. You would think in this day and age it would be possible to make a news app that worked well, with good UX and was stable. Apparently not in the IT’s case!

I have a dozen news apps and this is the only one where I have to turn off my device security (Privacy Pro) before it will load.
Disappointing lack of investment in this app
The previous app before this one was better. For years now this newer app is a poor user experience, particularly disappointing for a paid subscriber. The location on screen jumps around when using forward/backward navigation. Page loading and rendering is not snappy, no excuse for this with relatively static content. I don’t have a problem with the content, but I’m getting tired of paying for a poor user experience that they don’t appear to have any interest in improving. Maybe it’s time to stop paying for this.

The app is not bad but as soon as offline it is useless
I cannot understand why the app cannot be used offline. As soon as my internet drops (e.g. on a train going through a tunnel) the whole app disappears, including the article that I was halfway through. Why does the article disappear? Nonsense.
Nevermind having similar features to TheJournal which allows you to continue reading when offline.

Logged in to find that I am being asked to submit and save my cookie preferences for every article. I can’t read an article any more without submitting cookie preferences EVERY time!

Unusable due to cookie banners
App has become unusable due to cookie preference windows popping up on every screen and requiring seven taps to refuse permission. Sort it out!
Great news outlet. Bad app
When the app works it’s ok. It’s not very intuitive but I can generally find what I’m looking for. Saving a story for later works for me but only where it’s saved. For example a story saved on the iPad is not saved on the iPhone or web (I am logged in on all of them)
A few months ago, and again right now the app tells me I am not a subscriber (I am a long time subscriber) so I can’t see subscriber only content (or use the regaled newspaper app at all. I get an unhelpful “contact customer services”. A link or number would be useful. I tried contacting them via the help pages. Put in my details & outline of the problem… goes to a 404 page not found

Shockingly bad
Absolutely shockingly poor for a subscription I pay for. App crashes constantly, refuses to open. Frequently impossible to get back to the homepage. A momentary loss of internet connection causes the app to stop working completely and potentially for hours. Totally unintuitive design, swiping back out of an article may or may not work depending on how it feels.

Like many other users who complain of the same issues over a year ago I can't use the app. It just shows a white screen when you open it, using the latest version of the app and apple os. Good journalism that you can't read because of a terrible app
App won’t let me in!
I have a subscription but can’t login … the phone app says ‘subscription only’ then the app hangs in an infinite loop. I’ve updated the app - can we fix this please🙃
This app. HAS landscape mode!
I almost didn't try this app because of the many, many featured comments that complained that it doesn't have landscape mode. It does SO have landscape mode. So maybe do developer responses to those people asking them to update their reviews?
UPDATE: I have modified my review from five stars to one star because apparently I am meant to PAY to read articles in landscape mode. That is unacceptable.

Don’t download
One of the worst apps I’ve ever DL’d on my iPhone. The developers thought it was a good idea to continually check if you’re logged into iCloud — if you’re not, a dialog box appears and reappears etc requiring you to turn off your phone to be able to get out of the app.
Repeated cookie spam even within the app
Another round of abusive screen blocking spam when i opened the app today, including the sneering dishonesty of "we value your privacy". I already clicked through this junk after installing and nothing has changed, so it should stay hidden.
Quite a few spelling errors and is expensive
Very expensive unless you’re really interested in getting an Irish tilt on news. The monthly subscription which I paid for, for some time is not comparable to other news apps very expensive. I also can’t understand why the editor is missing the spelling errors and misprints.
Subscription error message
Trying to subscribe via the app but receiving an error message. It states ‘Purchase error, Developer error’.
