What's New in The Modality

2.1.0

June 13, 2026

The Modality grows from a reference into a connected musical world. NEW - The Crossroads — makams and modes that share an ancient connection now point to each other. Tap "Hear them side by side" on Hicaz and meet the Phrygian dominant, ney against Rhodes. - The modes of melodic minor — 7 new jazz modes (14 in all): Lydian dominant, the altered scale, the half-diminished sound, and the rest of jazz's second harmonic universe. - 10 new makams (29 in all): Ferahfeza, Sultanıyegah, Karcığar, Suzinak, Nikriz, Acemaşiran, Şehnaz, Eviç, Ferahnak, Acem Buselik. - Musicians directory — 64 composers and performers across both traditions, with portraits. Tap any name on any recording to meet the person behind it. - Glossary — the vocabulary of both worlds, searchable, in plain language. - Songs in this makam — the music you already know, mapped to the makam it lives in: classical, folk, arabesk, rock. - Notable pieces — cornerstone repertoire on every makam page. IMPROVED - Learn tab restructured — the lesson path leads, reference tools follow. - Cleaner browsing — makam families grouped and colored correctly, modes grouped by parent scale. - Dozens of data fixes — recording credits corrected, links repaired, Turkish characters consistent throughout.
