About

"THE NEWURBANJAZZ LOUNGE IS PEOPLE'S MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! What is NewUrbanJazz? Established 2008, NewUrbanJazz is a blend of Contemporary Jazz, mixed with Brazilian and Urban flavors, but also acknowledges the original artform of jazz, in word and song. NewUrbanJazz continues to reach new heights, with conversations in the SouthEast and Mid-Atlantic regions, headed by Bob Baldwin's ""NewUrbanJazz Lounge"", a weekly 2-hour program that features all cornerstones of jazz from all around the world. Radio background: Pianist Bob Baldwin got his start in 1980, when he interned under the late Frankie Crocker, the afternoon drive-time jock on the then-#1 station in the country, WBLS/NY, under the ownership of former Tuskegee Airman, Mr. Percy Sutton of Inner City Broadcasting. After taking his break from radio in 1985 to pursue his artist career, it wasn't before landing a News writing gig at WINS (aka ""1010-WINS) in New York City. it was there that he met Pat Prescott (Air Personality at The Wave in LA), who later secured the morning gig at CD101.9 (WQCD) in 1988. Additionally, Baldwin briefly covered the Jesse Jackson Presidential bid in 1984 for WVIP in Mt. Kisco, NY. NUJ had humble beginnings, with college stations jumping on board in Huntsville, Montgomery, Birmingham, Nashville, and Greensboro. Currently, NewUrbanJazz can be heard on over 42 stations in the US and several other internet radio platforms, including the NUJ Live stream at www.newurbanjazz.com."
