I saw a couple of others had encountered difficulties but I’ve been using the app without any issues whatsoever and enjoy the convenience of it. One thing I would say is that you need to have Apple Pay set up for the app to work properly for your subscription. I couldn’t get it to subscribe at first, and that’s because I hadn’t yet set up Apple Pay.

Avoid Like The Plague.
Awful app. Whenever I try to log in, having paid for a subscription, the app refreshes before I’ve had chance to enter my log in details. Gave up, and deleted the app, after five minutes of trying. Such a shame as I really wanted to support a local publication.

We are very sorry to hear that you have experienced these problems when trying to access your subscription within the app. Can you please try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app and try restarting your device before reopening the app. This may resolve the issue. Unable to load
Loading too often sticks at picture of Durham cathedral and fails to enter the paper site proper. There is no way to move on from this picture. Fault is with newspaper site as everything else on my iPad loads without problem. The picture is in any case a daily “nuisance” and totally unnecessary. Wits end reached as no one responds at the newspaper to any enquires on this. Definitely thinking of cancelling my e subscription and would not buy a hard copy either.

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced these problems with the app. Can I please ask you to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app as it sounds as though there may be a cached problem with your install. I will also raise this with our development team and we will investigate
Can’t get rid of subscription page
Paid for an in-app subscription of 1 month recurring. As soon as I click on a news story it takes me straight back to the subscription page where it says I have a current subscription. Tried deleting and reinstalling. Tried restarting my iPhone.
Frustrated
Do not purchase via iTunes in all probability you will encounter daily problems trying to download the current issue.

Just paid for 3 months subscription & then cancelled because app stopped opening wouldn’t have minded a refund

Very annoyed and frustrated. For past two weeks or so, unable to load the app. Will not be renewing subscription.

Have been happy with this for several years, until the last few months.
Since the app was taken over by the Nottingham group the paper is not always available before 7am.
On several occasions I have not been able to load the paper at all.
The Help desk has not been any good in explaining the problem, or how it can be rectified.

Excellent Customer Service
Despite having some problems the customer service is really impressive. Email page suite for speedy, friendly and efficient service: EXCELLENT.

Brilliant but the northern echo needs to update the operating system for iOS 11 on apple I have purchased the northern echo but can’t read it very annoying but otherwise it’s fantastic

Tried the free one month then subscribed the only thing I don't see why when u pay u can't get it at 7am like from shops and would like to do the puzzles but on the whole very pleased with the news content an the lay out I never miss it now so would recommend it to any one

A really good value app giving uptodate news on a national and local basis. (north east)
Easy to use. A few glitches and graphic quality goes when expanded. But Its improving all the time.

Very disappointing
I was pleased to think I would be able to carry on reading the Echo even though I'm leaving the region. But this app is hopeless. Crashes all the time and hard to navigate.

Why is it still available for free online when I and others pay for it.
Why can we not download earlier.
More news from other areas in the region as most of the items are aimed at Darlington/Stockton.

Northen Echo
The only issue I seem to be able to download is Darlington so most of the news is not of interest. Where is the Durham issue? P
Brilliant!!
As a regular reader of the Northern Echo its fantastic to see they have moved into the digital world. I know that if I'm not in the region and can't buy a paper copy I can still read the local news on my iPad. Great that it also includes all the regions as part of a bumper edition.
