Terrible design

When running the app the first time, there is a loading screen with no indication of progress. The first three times I opened it the app would crash before loading was complete. I am running a 4th gen iPad so my hardware can't be the issue.

When I finally got into the app it would become unresponsive at certain times such as when downloading new issues. This violates fundamental user interface rules and indicates the developers are lazy or incompetent.
