Why is an update required so often?

Of all of my apps, the Press Democrat app requires me to update the most often. Please stop requiring updates so often

Updates required too often

Updates should not be required so often. I updated a week ago and am now traveling with low data. I had to wait until I was back in civilization to read the Press Democrat.

Comics on phone

The prior version allow viewing comics in landscape mode. This version doesn’t.

Thus version will show the same article multiple times in single article mode.

Whatever

For the Love of God ! I just want the F’n news when I open your app- bias as it is !!!

local news is critical to me

I catch up every morning to start the day

Older iPad

My IPad will not update to the new version. I am so disappointed. Since I really only use the iPad for reading the PD, I have to cancel my subscription. So sad.

What a mess!

I follow a link and get “that page is not available”. I am asked to subscribe with no link to log in to my existing account. I click around, find a way to log in and I still can’t find the story about the 49ers win, I was informed about. You have work to do; it all worked well before.

Worst news app

It took several tries to be allowed to subscribe to the PD. After repeated “something went wrong” messages I was finally able to subscribe. I’m sure there’s some way around this but I have yet to find it. At present I can access a tiny thumbnail page from today’s edition. If i click on the page, it opens a random article from that page. I have no idea how to increase the page size or how to choose what article will open. I believe I’m computer literate. I’ve been online for about 30 years. I’m reasonably competent at navigating websites if the website is reasonably accessible. It seems like the PD is deliberately trying to chase readers away.

Doesn’t Seem to Work Anymore

I get an error message every time I try to open it, both on my phone and iPad. Tried deleting and reinstalling, but it didn’t help. I liked it when it worked.

Slow to load

Overall, a reasonably decent experience, but far too slow to load.

Paid for ads? Seriously?

What is new but not mentioned with the latest version is an ad banner across the bottom. I pay for online access to the PD. I do this because I no longer live in the delivery area but I want my lifetime local newspaper. My expectation is that I should be getting an electronic copy of the paper- ads and all. You could charge me more for this, but you have no business charging me for the dubious “privilege” of being accosted with an extra splash banner ad every time I scroll to a new page or adjust the size of the one I am reading.

Phone app not a good fit for 24" monitor

I have a 24" monitor the this app can't be resized larger than an iPad Mini. It's like examining an elephant with a magnifying glass.

This is not a good change and does not make me want to continue my subscription.

Horrible

Works sometimes; sometimes not….very frustrating!

Does not pop articles on iPhone Pro Max

Problem “popping” (opening in new page like eEdition) articles - now fails only in current edition but works for previous edition. “Popping” feature added manually as not automatic yet.

Stories keep crashing

Stories are automatically closing themselves after
I try to open them on my iPhone XR. I never had this issue with the older version of the PD app. Very frustrating.

Buggy

The new app is incredibly buggy and prone to crashing. The most annoying thing however, is the fact that it is crammed with animated advertising, even for those that pay plenty of money for a subscription. The eEdition is not bad, but can only be accessed after waiting to load and unload the add-filled home page.

New app is terrible

Great difficulty in loading a new edition. Too much time wasted trying to get this poorly designed software to work. With all the good news sites available, why bother with this garbage.

Does not refresh daily on iPad

To get today’s version on my iPad I have to delete the app and download it again. Most days, not every day. Works fine on my iPhone. Please fix.

New App Absolutely Terrible!!

Why try to improve upon something that was working just fine! New is not necessarily better.
New app is much harder to navigate and get recent articles. Always asks me to log in again. Crashes. Continually asking me to update from old version when I’m already using new version.
Will probably cancel subscription for the rest of the year and try again next year. Too many other sources available.
Also Press Democrat has failed to cover news in an unbiased manner. I prefer to make my own decisions rather than being fed politically biased reporting.

Terrible app

The previous app worked perfectly. What was anyone thinking to replace it with this app that locks on a previous edition and does not download the new edition. It requires that you must repeatedly sign in with password. Then it says you have signed in multiple times and locks you out. You call for technical support and are told your account is now unlocked. You are told to wait 15 minutes and try to sign in again. Nope! You get the message that you are still blocked from using the app. I have subscribed to the PD for 32 years but am considering unsubscribing. I don’t like to wake up in the morning and get a cuppa coffee and then struggle with a faulty app.
