Go back to being The SHEFFIELD STAR.
Over the years the Star has moved away from being a Sheffield newspaper, while at the same time, charging more, while giving less value for money. This policy will drive the Star to extinction, and the then owners will blame changes in people’s habits, without blaming themselves. If you are at all interested in keeping The Star going, you need to change sooner, not later. If you don’t know what I am talking about, it is time you did!

I buy the Star every day but would have to buy a subscription to get it online. This app only has old news

It’s disgusting, it won’t download latest editions, I’m going to cancel my subscriptions unless you get it sorted, tried deleting it and reloading but still the same, why can’t it be left as it was.

Used to love this app, used it every day but I'm not paying £13.49 for it. Just not worth it. How many readers have you lost I wonder?

Tried to open this app at least 5 times this morning and it just switches itself off this needs sorting before I delete it

This is the 3rd try to write a review on this site as you do not know if your nickname is used until you press send. My complaint is that the Apple app will no longer open the Sheffield Star, contacted via e mail Johnstons press via e mail auto replay will contact in 2 to 3 days this is not good enough as paying £14.00 month to read a news paper, no help telephone number to contact very poor for a large company. Also in a house hold to read the Star on more than one I pad you have to pay twice etc unlike a news paper. Looks a will be returning back to the printed paper

Deleted ! Nearly £14 for a newspaper! Don't think so mate ! You only got one star because the App Store won't let us post without at least one otherwise you wouldn't have got that ... Bye bye !
Shocking poor now I have to pay
Absolutely shocking I will be deleting this app now I have to pay a subscription. Even the daily mirror is free mon-fri. Rubbish paper now. Get your act together.

I have used this app to read the Sheffield Star since it was launched. The app is basic but effective, essentially offering a way to read the print edition online. It offers a considerably better experience than The Star website, particularly on mobile.
However in Jan 2015 The Star introduced a monthly subscription of £13.40. This is considerably more than I am prepared to pay particularly when I can get national newspapers, which offer more, better quality news at a lower rate.
I appreciate the need to make money but this seems greedy I wonder how many potential print ad views The Star's advertisers will miss out on as a result of this decision.

This app was fine until they decided they don't get enough from the advertises to release it for free, so in the bin it goes. There's plenty out there willing to give news away for free. Goodbye the Star !!!!

I also had the star and was asked for 13.49 with no warning immediately removed it of my iPad I still get the Metro and Daily Mirror for free. Goodby Johnston press.

Disappointed
I had this on Newsstand through iTunes. Never had a problem with it until recently. I attempted to open up the app and found out I'm expected to pay in excess of £13.00 for it. I shan't be using it again, there was no warning about this. Disgusted!

I love this app - but after last update it kicks me out
I love this app. The way you can pick the pages you want, or swipe through. Since the last update it tries to update for the new day and then kicks me out. I go back in but still get thrown out. I have tried deleting the app from the iPad but frustratingly seems bust. Waiting for new update.
