Susbscription-based apps are a no go

So sad that this is the "replacement" for the Social Express app I purchased, which was then removed from the App Store. This "replacement" equals similar content, except you pay into eternity to be able to access what you once had for a one-time fee. Those of us who used our dollars to purchase the original app (and it was not a cheap app) should have been given a LIFETIME subscription, since the app was removed from the App Store with little warning, and no recourse. Please fix this situation, the content is decent but there is a bad taste in my mouth...

Updated to make it one star instead of two. Your responses to people who purchased and loved this app before it became yet another subscription model are frankly rude. Gross.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We are concerned that your complaint is not validated as you discuss the new content for the subscription, but you have you actually purchased the subscription? The original app featured 16 lessons, the new program has 81 lessons yes the original 16 are included but all else are new. Futhermore, we have created student logins and full data analytics to track progress none of this was part of the original application. WE do offer a lifetime discount of 50% off the new app should you contact us for the promo code. We had hoped our original app would keep working but ios11 killed it and many other apps as well.

Money maker

Back in 2012 I purchased the full app for over $200 and when I needed to update and get a new generation iPad and redownload my apps I find this one has changed to a monthly subscription and I was not allowed the access to even the version I paid for in full. To say I’m irritated is an understatement. It was a good app for me as a speech pathologist and use with many kids but I can see how if only one child the short lessons would not be valuable enough to justify the cost. That being said, I did use the app often but also can not justify paying a monthly subscription for an app that does not add new content often especially when I already spent so much to purchase in the first place.

Dear Jen, Thank you for your review. You infer that the app was effective and you used with many students. That's a good thing right? The reason you are unable to access the original program is somnething that changed back in 2013 due to Apple changing their operating system which effected a lot of apps. Instead of investing into an update for the original program we decided to augement the program. We offered 50% off to past users for many years, somthing you never took advantage of. You mention we don't add new content, that is absoltuely false, since 2012. we tripled the content and added a full curriculum to the program. Something you have not seen as you have not subscribed. What is helpful in reviews is sharing with potential customers the efficacy of a program. The cost is irrelevant if your getting the results. We wish you the best.

The sonic learning login is terrible for $8000 a year oh my gosh life was meant to be easier the more you use the program

Subscription model

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am this company moved to a subscription model. Although it’s a great app, it’s just not worth the price of hundreds of dollars (possibly thousands if used for multiple years) that comes with a subscription. I think it’s shameful to be honest. Please don’t support this model. On top of that, the developers snarky responses to other reviewers doesn’t help their image.

Efficacy is what makes a program valuable, the price should not be something you complain about if you are getting the results you desire. Shameful, c'mon really? Rip Off

I purchased this app several years ago for a lot of money. It stopped working due to lack of update. Now I can use only with a monthly fee? I was cheated out of my money. RIP OFF

Hello, you were not cheated out of your money as you had use of the app for several years as you mentioned. The app stopped working due to changes in the ios code. We do offer a 50% discount off the subscription for those who purchased the original app. Please email us with a receipt of purchase to contact@socialexpress.com

Sad.

I loved loved loved the original app. We used it extensively in addition to many other tools, and it was incredible. I’m just plain sad now.

Great APP

I really felt like the original APP applied to so many students. I used it often and was surprised when it stopped working with the update. I could not figure out why when I had already purchased the app. I would purchase the new APP and understand that it has more stories/scenarios, but can’t do a monthly fee thru the school district. This monthly fee makes it difficult to access. I am so disappointed. You may be losing lots of purchasers due to the monthly fee.

Please update original app

Please update the orignal Social Express so it works again or add the lessons contained in the original app to the free content in the new app. I used the original Social Express for years with my students. I cannot afford your subscription plans for the new app.

Shameful!!!!

I have had this app for years and used it frequently with my students. I now have to put in a user name and password which I never had to do in the past. To make matters worse they want subscription fees for the app now which has not changed much in the years that I have had it. This is disgraceful, especially since it is geared for kids with ASD!!!!!!

Our program moved to a comprehensive subscription in 2013. Why would you need to use the subscription version if you already had the original version? Furthermore, how would you know what new content we have released if you have not seen the new program which you don't have access too?You must have liked the program if you used it frequently with your students so we are not clear on why you are giving this a bad review as a review would apply to the integrity of the content not access to the program.

Back in 2013 we removed our original app The social Express and placed a new app in the store, The Social Express II. People who purchased the original app, The Social Express were given a perpetual license, but when ios 11 came out the app stopped working. We have offered a generous discount for anyone who owned the app to purchase the Social Express II as we have not supported the social express since 2013. This cusomter is complaining about an entirely different app. Please remove this ASAP

The Social Express is a comprehensive social skills program which may be needed for some individuals for 1 month or 1 year until they have gained the benefits from the program. Therefore your monthly fee is to access the content until you no longer need it. You may cancel anytime. We give you the option of a monthly license or an annual so you have flexibility on how much time you need.

No sound

This app is useless which is a shame because I feel like my son could really benefit from it if it worked. I wanted to test the free version prior to purchasing the membership. Glad I didn't waste my money but disappointed that there isn't a better option out there.

Hello, you say the app is "useless" but you don't say why? How can you give this a low rating with no actual reason why? What didn't work? Reviews are helpful for developers when we hear from our customers what works and more important, what does not. We have won multiple awards and are helping thousands of people worldwide with social and emotional deficits. It is rare that our program doesn't work so we will assume this was user error.

I downloaded this app, as I thought it would be a great resource. However, I was/am very disappointed with it. It asks for username and password, however, offers no place to register or make an account. This in itself makes the application defective, when you are unable to use it for what it is intended for. Please fix, extremely disappointing.

This app has no captions ...

This app has no captions for the deaf and hard of hearing, it's app need to be accessible to all kinds of people with challenges and non challenges ... It can make all the difference in the world if it does ....

Experiencing difficulties

This version does not open up like the first version. Requires a log in but no chance to register one. Maybe it was me? Not sure but I prefer the first version at this moment.
