Too fast & poor controls, needs update
A promising game, but there are no difficulty settings and the attackers come far too fast. This is especially true because there’s only a single control option. Tap on 2 lower left buttons to move clockwise or counterclockwise. Awkward for the speed of the game. Add an option for sliding your finger anywhere on the full screen to move yourself. That might be fast and more natural and fluid. You finger could block some screen view though.
Overall = very disappointing even with the last update 2 years ago.

The graphics are super retro and satisfying, which is awesome! But the gameplay is clunky at best. To move around the board, you must tap arrows, which are located at the bottom left of the screen. It’s awkward. Far more elegant and intuitive would be the ability to slide your finger in the direction you wish to move and shoot. I love where this game is headed, and I know it can and will be improved over time. But right now, it’s nearly impossible to play. Sorry. I really want to love it, but it’s mostly potential at this point and not a super substantive rendition of the game.

Works on 12 pro max
This game is what you would get if you showed someone a photo of T2k and said “these things are flying out from the center and you have to shoot them.” Don’t expect the classic game.
The controls are terrible
Making this tempest knock off ridiculously hard and pathetic. Everyone has a touch screen, utilize that rather than left/right rotation arrows.
Favorite Retro Game Disappoints
The game will load and play but then there is no way to reset and reload to play again. Can't believe this game and a 99 cent version are still listed. There used to be a playable version of this classic space game but an lOS update broke it.
C’mon man, fix it!
I don’t think game makers understand something. I have money. I want what I want though. Not what you made. I want the real Tempest. People my age who played it in the arcade have no problem giving you 5 bucks if it worked great. We spent that back in the day! This one jams up ,freezes , won’t reset, control is NO WHERE near what it should be. Make it so your finger controls the player around the circle. Do something better and you will get paid. Make a decent Scramble from Konami or Defender too.

Gameplay is terrible, none of it makes sense, and the app only superficially resembles the 80s classic game it is supposed to emulate.
Don’t bother
Game lacks basic functionality. To be fair, likely built by a youngster early in their coding career, so while I am certain this hardly works (i.e. says Game Over within 60 seconds and nothing you can do to restart, if you hit “More” before starting, takes you to ads that have nothing to do with the game), I cant speak to how much effort was put into it. Bottom line of your looking for the classic arcade game, it’s not this.

Great tempest clone but
I didn’t get a black screen so here are some suggestions for the game. Make the background change in a little bit so it’s not the same thing. And make different levels (different shapes and stuff for the “space vortex”. Also needs more variety in enemys
Not great, but a reminder of the game
You really can’t complain since it’s free. It’s worth a try. To get past the black screen you gotta jump out of the app one or two times. Finally the 30 second ad plays. Then hit the start button in the middle of the screen. The controls are pretty terrible and the graphics aren’t like the real game. But it is a reminder. Keep looking for this game, it’s gotta turn up at some point.

No development action in 2 years so this isn’t going to go anywhere but...
The black screen a lot of people get seem to be instead of the first of the ads you get but it gets stuck in the black screen. Black screen only happened once of a bunch of tries for me: mostly 30 sec ads for me when you start, when you click More, when you click Back etc.
As others said the click to move doesn’t parallel the old game (too slow) AND greatly interferes in shooting. Slide left and right to rotate would be better as long as the firing is handled separate and immediately.
