Brilliant atmosphere
It’s an absolute masterpiece. The cinematography by Roger Deakins is breathtaking, and the tension built throughout the entire story keeps you completely on edge. James Newton Howard’s score is easily one of the greatest soundtracks of the 2000s- the solo violin work is hauntingly beautiful. It’s a masterclass in mood, suspense, and a deeply moving story about grief and isolation. Easily my favorite of his filmography.
