Why dose it stop reading

The first time I got the book it worked the 2nd time I try to read it it just said a few words like 3 and then it just would stop

My son was excited to read this but so disappointed to find that none of the books in this series open on his iPad.

My daughter and I keep checking for book 6, but she still loves reading the other stories again. I'd love for the words to change color as they're read, so that she could follow along.
