The game is entirely free to play from beginning to end. However, there is an option to upgrade for a small fee, which allows you to fast-track to character creation, save your changes to all characters, and generally make the game your own.
Basic controls include a D-Pad for movement, 'A' for attack, 'G' for grapple, 'P' for pick-up/drop, and 'U' for using objects. You can also combine objects with 'P + U', sleep or meditate with the 'Eye' button, and pause or exit using the meter. A book icon provides Bible references.
