They just don’t care

No updates no fixes

THR remote app

I’m being generous with the 3 stars. Download for a new THR 10ii-20 wireless. Cumbersome and overly sensitive to adjustments on an iPad. The old THR editor for the original 10C was more professional in appearance and easy to adjust with the mouse on my Mac.
On appearance the current app looks washed out and visually boring. The factory and artist presets are simply awful. If Chris Buck sounded that bad in concert, I’d want my money back.

Garbage

Haven’t been able to connect to the amp in oh, I’d say a year and a half. Phone and iPad. Firmware update, factory resets, etc. Tried everything. I still like the amp but not happy that there are a ton of features I can’t use.

Works 10% of the time

There is no rhyme or reason as to when this app chooses to connect to iPhone. It isn’t very often though!

Trash app

Constant issues with loading presets and various bugs with this app, you end up spending more time troubleshooting how to make the amp do simple things than actually playing. Yamaha got their money, they just abandoned this app.

App is not smooth

The app always states there’s an upgrade. After 20-30 minutes I’ll have to power cycle the amp to make adjustments within the amp. It could be better.

Garbage

Bluetooth connection very buggy. If you are running latest iOS version 18.5 don’t bother. Just delete it and use the controls on the device.

Keeps crashing

Keeps crashing after bluetooth connectivity - unusable

ok when it works BUT…rarely works

sometimes this app just refuses to load. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting (it shows up as TWO DIFFERENT bluetooth connects, presumably one for the actual amp modeler and one for a generic bluetooth speaker?), ive tried deleting the app and starting from scratch. Sometimes the app starts up and just says “creating thr engine” indefinitely. Really really poor quality from yamaha, especially since the old desktop app (the older THR10 amps didn’t have bluetooth) was so simple and useful. Replacing it with this mobile feels like a MAJOR downgrade.

Can’t connect to my THR

Currently the app doesn’t work at all

Update the app

It’s really hard to connect the Amp to my iPhone. Fix it fast.

Cool thing, some functions need to be implemented

In general is fine regarding functionality etc. The big minus is that every time I start the app it is annoying me with the possibility to update the amp. However, I can not update the THR amp with the app in mobile phone despite I bought a proper adapter for direct wiring (USB A to USB B). Unfortunately this function does not exist for my mobile version!!!

No compatibility IOS

J’ aimerais utiliser le THR5 avec Cubasis sur mon IPad , aucune compatibilité apparement , qu attendez vous pour faire le lien avec le système IOS? Any response please?

Abandoned App

Amp is great but developer abandoned the app from the beginning. Amp disconnects app at random then won’t detect iPhone & ipad despite re-pairing so can only use amp manually for months on end & unable to use extra fx settings. After 3 years of owning it they don’t seem interested in fixing it.

Works fine on some devices

The good is that it works fine on my Mac and iPad but despite all my efforts will not work on latest iPhone or iOS for iPhone. Just cannot see the device from within the app tho the THR is connected and I can play iPhone music on the amp. And yes, Tech Support, I updated the THR system just today! Given the other reviews it’s kinda shocking I have to write about this obvious flaw. I did not try with other mobile or PC OS environments to see if iPhone is the only issue.

Works as advertised on the other devices. Able to access more than just device itself such as two other suites of amps plus about 40 Yamaha created presets, which could provide an instant 6th “preset” tho patience to download plus volume likely won’t match. If you’re really industrious and memorized a manual setting literally dialing it up on the device live you’d have a 7th but it’s gone once any other preset is invoked.

Now, what about enduring my phone can control my THR so I don’t have to deploy some kind of computer?!!!!

Be nice if Yamaha included the USB cable too though with so many different computers which USB to put on the other end? Those of us with hubs wouldn’t have to worry.

Constant disconnect

Just wanted to say that I just updated the firmware of the THR10ii itself, and the app still disconnects from the amp within a couple minutes of using it. I give it 2 stars because it’s great to be able to use these features, and if you can save to a preset and assign to the amp in time, it will remember it, but because it constantly disconnects you find yourself tweaking settings only to discover that nothing is changing and you have to start from scratch by closing the app and reconnecting. I’m not sure what the issue is where it can’t just maintain a simple connection, but until the app is fixed I wouldn’t advise anyone expects to use it as its intended. Yamaha, please do better.

2024 review

Works great and is easy to use for practice playing etc.
I haven’t had any issues since I bought it in 2023 so I’m very happy overall.

My only complaint is it would be nicer to have more storage options or swaps than 4 but that’s more of the amp issue.

Finally all bugs are fixed

- Fast switch between presets via BT!
- iOS version works simultaneously with Mac version connected via usb without any hangs!
Long waiting but great work! Hope to get version for Apple Silicon.

Works completely fine! Update your unit!

Guys, it works perfectly fine! I have this app on my iPhone 13 Mini, iPad Mini, and my MacBook Pro - it all works! People either have no clue how bluetooth works or they haven't updated the firmware on their actual THR unit (it even says to do this in the latest release notes and it takes 5 min). I use this with the G10TII too and it works great. Yes I’ve seen it disconnect but it always reconnects within seconds. If you don’t want to deal with firmware updates/bluetooth you shouldn’t have gotten this kind of amp. I absolutely love my THR30II and the range of tones it produces. It’s a shame the people who don’t know how to read instructions or do the most basic troubleshooting are the ones leaving all the bad reviews.
