3ma is great. Way better than either whatsapp or signal or telegram…. Eons better. But Americans would rather stake themselves as the internal colonially displaced subjects whose existence is permitted insofar as it relates to the economic system of capitalism alone.

The app constantly takes 30 minutes or more just to deliver a message, and many times just disconnects from the network for no reason.
Missing self-destructing messages like in Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, Session, Wickr, SimpleX.
We’re living in 2025 and Threema still doesn’t have self-destructing messages.

Easily one of the worst paid app I ever used
I don’t know how an app can be so buggy and unpredictable in this age. And this is a paid app for God’s sake! It’s easily one of the worst paid apps I have ever used. Always something or the other.. it doesn’t connect.. those red and orange lines at the top. Have to restart so frequently. Honestly surprised how this is still on the AppStore. Very frustrating user experience.

It has always worked great for people who want a real anonymous messenger. Many options to set it up and your profile shows your user ID for if you need it. End to end encryption. Works as intended.

Threema est un beau projet qui mise sur la sécurité avant tout ce qui est pour moi très important. Malheureusement, récemment, beaucoup de petits problèmes viennent régulièrement altérer l’expérience. On reçoit tout à coup certains messages avec quelques heures de décalage, les appels ne sont pas très stables ou ne connectent parfois simplement pas. La connexion aux serveurs est plutôt capricieuse et imprévisible. Parfois tout marche parfaitement, et d’autres fois rien ne va. Je voulais réellement pouvoir faire de Threema mon appli de communication par défaut, mais malheureusement le manque de stabilité fait que je continue à faire des aller-retour avec Signal et d’autres.

Messages not sending/going through
For several weeks now, when I send regular text message and then get out of the app. It will not go through to the person I sent it to unless I open the app back up and it reloads and then it will send the message and if I don’t do it right away the message will literally take hours to be sent if I don’t go back into the app. The last couple updates have been trash and I’ve been having all kinds of issues like this and the app not even opening when I receive a message.
