This app has to be in the early development stages. It has potential to make other forums run for their money. I’ve noticed after extensive use the app asks you to update when their isn’t one available. There are a couple annoying paywalls and ads. I’ve enjoyed answering questions, however there is so much trash content produced thankfully there is the report button.

This app has potential, but not with paywalls and ads
This app could be “the next big thing,” but unfortunately there are those 30 second long video ads everyone hates, and if that wasn’t enough, you have to pay to actually see answers! Maybe if they made the ads more like Reddit, where you see one when scrolling and it doesn’t interrupt the user experience, then it might be better. But even then, locking the basic features of your app behind paywalls is just plane dumb. Nobody is going to pay $100 annually or $10 monthly for something they can do for free on better services like Reddit and Quara. If the developers of this app could guarantee you an answer to your question, then with all the other stuff I stated, this app could be very successful. But in order to do that you have to gain and maintain user interest in the service, and ads and subscriptions aren’t the way to do that. You can still make money by maybe having a premium subscription, that could push your question to the top and maybe keep it there for a couple days.

Major bug in update [!] + review
I’ve been using the app on and off for a while. I just updated and am experiencing a bad issue so I’m also using this review in place of emailing them. To skip to the error with the new update, scroll all the way down. Otherwise, here is my review:
The idea is great. I really like it. UI is decent, some things could improve but overall not bad. The main issues are:
1. App is slow. When I press the button to post a question, it takes a solid minute for the app to respond and actually post it. Then when I’m answering questions, there usually aren’t more then 20. And that’s with about 5 “trash” aka “spammy” questions included.
2. I can’t scroll through other questions’ responses without paying for a membership, I can just see one or two responses. If the app was popular, okay fine, but let’s be real. There are few users of this app. Maybe focus on keeping the existing community growing and engaging rather then forcing them to pay? This also prevents me from clicking “like” on other people’s answers, resulting in just one or two answers getting all the credit because the rest are behind a paywall. This is extremely unbalanced and means the users’ aren’t getting rewarded for their efforts, even in meaningless points.
3. Not enough matches to my questions. I apply about 15 keywords and still don’t get matches. This app should have a set of 30 somewhat broad topics to choose from. The current system where users enter in whatever word they want results in no (or very few) users thinking of the exact same word. If 50 people choose from a preselected 30 broad topics, that would GREATLY increase the amount of people selecting the same word. We as people think of ourselves in hundreds of different words. We can’t possibly write them all down, and others will most certainly not write remotely the same words down for themselves.
The error with the new update:
I can’t “catch” questions. The app freezes for a second then crashes. Please fix this.

Reddit 2.0
Throw has a lot of potential. Even with how little people use this app, I could see myself using this on the daily. Many other reviews are complaining that they aren’t being paid money for answering questions, but personally I don’t care if i’m getting money or not! I’ll update this review if I run into any problems in the future.

Obvious Cash Grab
Chock full of ads. Hides people’s answers from you until you pay for premium. For an app centered around community, they make it difficult to talk to anyone.
Unclose-able Ad blocks me from seeing questions
Everytime I click a question to see comments, or if there’s further detail and participate ( as I have never gotten it to open and don’t know what it looks like when you do) an ad for HYUNDAI dealer comes up and blocks the entire screen. There is no way out of it, no close button no x nothing. I click the ads and it takes me to a site. I go back to the app hoping that removes it and it doesn’t. The app is completely useless if it doesn’t work as it is intended to work. Id like to know how to get rid of this ad, and any other ad that blocks me when I click a question. If there is not a way, the app doesn’t meet the apple standards to be in the App Store. Cool concept. If it worked.

Literally just a worse version of Quora

Has Potential, Get this App!!
So far, I have made $40 from this app. In order to do this I’ve answered several questions a day for the last few weeks. I get them throughout the day and usually promptly respond.
Here’s a few areas I think Throw can improve
1. Steak counter. It says I’m on a 4 day streak every day, however I probably have a 30 day streak. I’ve answered multiple questions (usually 8+) for the last several weeks.
2. Rating system. The star system and rating system feels very strange. I’d really like to have some transparency on how this works, especially when I’m paying for boosts on occasion. It seems that it’s somewhat arbitrary and unclear. I was rated 4.3 stars and ranked 43rd or something, even though I’ve never came across someone with a higher rating. I wanted to boost myself to get close to 5 stars, so I launched to boosts. I got great reviews on these boosts, but the next day I was put down to a 3.9 star rating. Its very strange, and it would be cool if I can see my what metrics I need to achieve a higher rating.
3. Broken Throws. Sometimes users send throws that can’t be answered because they aren’t questions, there is no way to answer in the app (though I suspect this was fixed), or because they selected a strange answer medium (I.e. picture). Of course a large amount of these throws are reportable, but some are in a gray area and I don’t want to risk a false report penalty
4. Payment. I think payment should be overhauled. It needs to be more merit based. This one is HUGE. It’s very strange to me that poll answers pay the same as my 750 character answers. It’s also strange that it costs the same. I think users should be able to poll 25 people for 30 cents. I also think I should get payed an initial amount of 14 cents or whatever for long for answers, but receive additional payment for likes. Another idea is to receive extra bonus payment if the thrower hearts yours. There could even be a special symbol by it like how YouTube has the creator heart. There needs to be WAY MORE incentive for quality answers. People are PAYING for answers when they could get them for free on Reddit or similar, so let’s create a space where answers are always high quality.
5. Skips and overly technical questions. There is a problem I’ve noticed on this app where people ask very technical questions related to their field or something. Lazy catchers reply “idk” or give some otherwise incomplete or incorrect answer. You need to encourage skipping questions that are too technical so someone who can answer them will. A little popup that says “tap skip if this throw is too technical.” Or discourage questions that are technical and remind users that throw is for relationship and life questions or something.
The last thing is that this app needs to grow! We need more users! This app could truly flourish with more users. I would estimate there is only a few hundred regular users. We need thousands and thousands. Get this app!

Can’t be real
Can’t get anything to load. When I click on something to answer and ad pops up. Am I getting paid for the ad too? Doubtful. Feels very bad to use. who cares what gender. Should have the option to not answer as it doesn’t effect my ability to answer different questions. Seemed like a cool idea even if we didn’t get paid for it, too bad the app doesn’t work.

Will never get past “Warm up” period
You will never get past the 5 warm up questions to the point you actually get paid.
Once you complete the 5* warm up questions it just stops giving you things to answer for a bit then makes you answer 5 more questions for free to “warm up” Its made me do that 8 times now. I’ve had enough.
Oh and it only sends out notifications you have questions to answer when the app is closed and it’s too late to answer them. Total waste of time. They just use you to answer questions for free in a never ending 5* question warm up period on repeat

WTH??
I’m having a hard time figuring out why this is even a thing? There are sooo many places you can ask a question for free. Why would you pay to get answers or advice from random people? You don’t know if they even know what they’re talking about.

This app has so much potential, but the only way to be able to do anything in it is by paying to play. Not worth your time. Don’t bother trying.
Waste of time
It only sent me 4 questions and that was it. Days went by without any catches. I gave up and Deleted.

it dont work at all every survey you do its gon say opps it boot you out dont download its waste of ur time
Is it a scam or just pointless??
1. You have to do five warmup questions every 24 hours or you don’t earn on the sixth and beyond. So basically they are getting five free answers from you and then you stop getting catches so you can’t earn. Also, I’m not even getting a catch a day right now.
2. They say people will pay because it’s legit advice. Sorry, but if I want crowdsourced advice, I’m going to Reddit where I can get the info for free and the person probably actually knows what they are talking about.
