About
Thumbs measures how fast you actually type — on the keyboard you use all day.
Every typing test was designed for a desk. Ten fingers, a Tab key to restart, and a screen wide enough to read a paragraph ahead. Thumbs keeps what those tests got right and rebuilds the rest around a phone.
WORDS PER MINUTE, MEASURED PROPERLY
Correct characters over five, per minute — the same standard every typing test uses, so your number means something outside this app. Raw speed is reported next to it, so you can see exactly what accuracy is costing you.
SEE EVERY MISTAKE AS YOU MAKE IT
Correct letters darken as you type them. Wrong ones turn red, showing the letter you should have hit rather than the one you did. A word you got wrong keeps a red underline after you have moved on, so the mistake is still there when you look back.
BUILT FOR THUMBS
Autocorrect, predictive text and smart punctuation are all off — a typing test should measure you, not your keyboard's guesses. Delete on an empty word steps back into the previous one, so a fumbled word can be repaired. Every mistake gets a short haptic tap, because thumb typing gives you no other signal that a key went wrong.
CHOOSE THE TEST
Race a clock at 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, or a fixed 10, 25, 50 or 100 words. Turn on punctuation for real sentences with capitals and full stops, or numbers to practise the part of the keyboard everyone avoids.
FOUR NUMBERS THAT MATTER
Speed, accuracy, raw speed, and consistency — how even your pace was, so a steady typist is told apart from one who sprints and stalls at the same average. Every test is kept, with personal bests for each length.
