App not updating
In the past week the TidBits app has stopped updating on my iPhone. I deleted and reinstalled but that hasn’t fixed it.

Fantastic, fixed the one bug that bothered me.
I reported a bug, TidBITS didn’t work with voiceover. They fixed it, fantastic! It works wonderfully now. Really appreciate that.

I’ve been reading this site for the past 10 years. It never has the feel of it’s editorial policy being driven by purchase of X sponsor’s gadgets. I get solutions to problems I didn’t know I had yet.

Not vary voiceOver friendly
This app doesn't work very well with VoiceOver. The buttons when you hit the back button are unlabeled. If you like send me an email and I can try to help out.

Okay, five stars, really?
It's not the handsomest app, being no more than a set of containers for the updates on their site. So yes, not for looks or interaction.
It used to have the option of listening to the articles being read aloud which, in an era of polished podcasting, was just a step above goofily endearing. Didn't quite merit the amount of work, I'd say.
It has news and updates keeping some measure of lockstep with the Apple universe. But it's no Ars Technica or Verge or MacNewsSiteDuJour. But no five stars for any of that.
It's TidBITS, the oldest continuous Internet publication focussed on all things Apple. And what you read here is good stuff. Consistently. For a very long time. In depth articles, useful features, intelligent commentary. For that Five Stars.
If that's your bag and apps (over email or websites) are your thing, then download this. Tidbits rocks old school, fine by me.

Won't load
Now that this app has been updated to run only in IOS6, I can't load it on my first generation iPad. Other apps don't have this problem. One can only assume that the programmers made the decision to exclude people who own older devices.
It's a great way to enjoy tidbits!
The app for me is very stable, easy to use, and a great way to enjoy Tidbits. The articles are clear and consise, and I feel is the best way to keep up to date on the Apple Universe. As for users who prefer to not upgrade their os for this app to work. Tidbits is available on their website, by email, and podcast. I think that developers should not hold their software back to support legacy users, especially if there are alternative means to get the information.

Crashes without opening
Hard to assess fully, since I can't even get it to open, alas. Brand new iPad 2, latest iOS.
Disappointed!
Many of us won't upgrade to iOS 4 because it makes older iPod Touches sluggish--so, alas, the great folks at Tidbits blew it because their app now requires iOS4! Plus, oddly, the previous version just stopped fetching stories!! I deleted the app figuring that reinstalling it might bring them back--only to be reminded I can't download it because I'm running an older OS on my IPT 2G!!
Come on, Adam, Tonya, and Matt--take pity on us!!
Otherwise, this was a pretty good app although the headlines were in a too small non-adjustable font size.
Note: I've been a $$ supporter of TB for several years.

Upgraded the iPad to OS 4. I installed this version of the app. The picture here is a tad misleading. It's the landscape mode that has the flat look. The portrait mode uses a floating window for the article list, which is disconcerting as it blocks the article underneath. But, wait, there's more! You still CANNOT resize the text used in the headlines list panel--a major deficiency, especially for those with glasses or who don't hold the iPad up to their noses!
So, two fixes needed:
1) Give us the options of the old IPT look-- scrolling list of headlines, tap, list replaced by stories--OR the flat look for the portrait orientation.
2) Let us resize the font text in the headlines panel!
Come on, Adam, Tonya, and Matt--take pity on us!!
Otherwise, this was a pretty good app although the headlines were in a too small non-adjustable font size.

Not backwards compatible
There is nothing this app does which should require iOS4 only--a terrible oversight by a crew which has a very long track record of making their content available to all comers. The app needs to be modified to restore compatibility with iOS 3 devices (iPad) or a dedicated iPad app needs to be made available.
