About
TingTong is a doorbell that rings one person's phone instead of a whole house. You arrive at a friend's door. You tap their name. Their phone rings with a doorbell chime. That is the whole app. No message. No voice note. No content of any kind. A ring carries one piece of information: someone you know is at your door.
Why it exists:
- A doorbell is a broadcast.
- You wanted to reach one person and instead you woke a napping baby, interrupted a work call, or startled a grandparent asleep in the afternoon.
- You had one thing to say, I am here, and the only tool available announced it to everyone.
- TingTong keeps the sound and removes the audience.
How it works:
- Share your six character code with a friend.
- They send a request. You decide whether to accept. Only then can either of you ring the other.
- Tap their bell.
- Their phone chimes. That is it.
Quiet hours:
- Set a window when your bell stays silent.
- Friends see a moon next to your name, so they know before they ring.
- Anyone who came by still shows up in Came by, so you know who was there.
What TingTong does not do:
- No feed. No profiles. No follower counts. No suggestions. No streaks.
- The friend list is a list, not a network to grow.
- The app never notifies you about itself.
- No phone number. No address book. No location.

Dark mode is here. Choose Light, Dark, or match your phone's setting, right from Settings. New accounts now get to pick their bell and doorbell sound before jumping into the app, so the first thing you see is set up your way. A few smaller polish passes throughout.
