Good when it’s working!
There are times it doesn’t let me put in the total amount, instead it leads me to CONTINUE which I don’t understand. I delete the app & then reinstall it, but after awhile it doesn’t work again. Can’t understand why this happens!
Best Simplest Tip Calculating App!
This is a super simple tip calculator. Simple to select percentages or you can enter in your own percentages and you can also calculator the bill if you need to split it up amongst a group of people. If you're looking for simple and an easy to find app; logo is very distinguishable amongst all your other apps; it's free and with no annoying ads!

I rarely write reviews. If I do it's because an app severely blows and I think the public needs to know about it. That is NOT the case with this app.
This app is outstanding. It was one of the first apps I ever got waaay back in the early days of the App Store. It continues to be one of the best apps I've ever downloaded. Why? It does EXACTLY what it promises it will do, and it does it very well. It's clean and easy to understand - and I can't thank the developer enough for keeping it this way and not adding unnecessary crap just to be trendy.

One of the best tip calculators
This was one of my first apps. Simple. Clean interface. It just works.

I love this app!
This app is really great and easy to use. It is very handy and helpful, I use it almost daily. When at a meal with customers I can figure out the tip amount to remain within company policy or when dining with co-workers, etc., I can quickly divide up the receipt and give everyone the information about their fair share, etc., if they want.

The Perfect Tipping App! There is none better!
I have to say that regardless of the new large iPhone 5 Display, one of my go to app in my life is TipStar. I am extremely happy with this app and never turned it down after I upgraded to a larger screen iPhone. Now that this app has been updated to fit the iPhone 5's larger display, It's just as easy and pleasurable to use as it always was. Probably one of the only real Apps I have ever given a full 5 star rating on! Go get it!

Simple and Straight-forward
I have lost my iPhone (or was stolen) many times (I'm on my 9th one). When I am faced with reloading my new phones with must have apps, a tip calculator is on the top of the list. While I admittedly haven't auditioned a ton of tip calculators, the truth is I haven't needed to. TipStar has everything I need and have wanted in a tip app. Just enter the total (for the dim wit lamenting lack of a sales tax feature enter the sub total NOT the net total...duh), select a preset tip % (or enter other to set your own desired tip percentage), then click your party size. The tip calculator determines the total bill, including tip, split per person according to your party size. Simple, if you are the type of person to split the bill evenly amongst your people.

Terrific app, responsive developer!
One suggestion: Make amount keyboard style optional for calculator style (1 lower left) or telephone style (1 lower right). I find it strange to operate a calculator with a phone keyboard.
I read many reviews before downloading this app and was pleasantly surprised to see that some items that had been listed as missing in some reviews have made it into the app like option for pretax and ability to easily override the percentages.
Even without my request for a calculator keypad layout I find the application to be really well done.

Great application I only have one recommendation
I use the app all the time, the only suggestion I would recommend changing is that you provide a total where the tax and tip are not combined for those of us who calculate tip pre-tax. The issue is not a big one until you split the bill with multiple parties. When you combine tax and tip, it requires you to do additional calculations to determine the tip amount because most resturants add the tax into the total particularly when using a credit card. For a free app it could not be better, and that would be my only suggestion.

Great idea, needs a 25% calculator
Believe it or not there are people out there that tip upwards of 25%. Also, what if you came in and got a discount via coupon, gift card, happy hour, etc. There needs to be a tip calculator for that. Oftentimes people don't take their discount into consideration. (for example: the original bill was $60 but you had a $30 coupon. You want to leave a 20% tip, which should be $12, but you leave $6 instead, which is wrong). Just like people who tip before tax, some people tip after the discount.
This app is a great idea and it works well. I just wanted to make suggestions for improvements (as the creator requested).

Great App
I love to go out to eat and I'm a believer of huge tips, because waiting tables is not the greatest job. But it's nice to have something to quickly calculate tip for a not-so-great experience. I also love the ratings right next to the percentages. Oh and for you cheap people who want to tip before taxes, the option to change that is in the iphone settings menu. Honestly, I never was a server, but if you can't afford the extra dollar and something cents, stay home.

Likely the best tipping application out there, and it's free!
I have used many web-based tipping applications in the past, and was looking for a native application like this one - I like Tip Star the best. The pre-tax tipping option has been added - set this option by going to the iPhone General Settings - scroll down to find the Tip Star settings. There you can also find additional settings, like setting up what % constitutes "acceptable," "good" or "excellent" service. The interface is easy to work with, has an easy to see large number format, and works great! Furthermore, it's free!

It can do pre-tax calc
First off, this is the best of all the free tip calculators. So simple, so fast. I have tried 3 others.
To those that say it should do pre-tax calculations, RTFM before you post your erroneous 1 star ratings and then recommend some other bloated tip calculator. It says RIGHT in the app to go to the iPhone general settings to turn pre-tax tipping on. Why not spend 30 sec learning and app before you write a 1 star review?
And to the people that post 1 star reviews because they say to use the built in calculator, in what way are you possibly reviewing THIS app? You aren't. You are throwing in poor ratings because you don't want to use it. Do us all a favor, go away and take your poor reviews with you.

Easy workflow, can see this will be a great platform
This is simple, easy, and has a nice workflow. Love the numeric key pad and I like that it doesn't try to squeeze everything onto one screen with some annoying sliders or slot machine wheels. It walks you through the choices logically and simply. I can also see that it's built to easily add a lot more features. All the feedback everyone's given seems like it'll be easy to implement in future versions. So I'm going to stick with this free one for the long haul. Definitely the best out there.

Great little app!
I like that it has a numeric keypad instead of the usual number/punctuation keyboard. Who needs that when you're only entering a price? I also like the ability to split the check among multiple parties.
I'd like to see a customizable tip percentage. Some restaurants add their own gratuity for large parties so you would want to only make up the difference. Or maybe the service doesn't quite warrant the usual tip.
