Tock - Metronome

Tock is a metronome for practice. One screen, and no setup before you can use it. Set a tempo by dragging the big number, tapping it out, or stepping a beat at a time. Press play. The click is generated one full bar at a time and looped by the audio hardware itself, so it cannot drift - however long you leave it running. THE BAR Tap any beat to accent it, or mute it entirely. Choose quarters, eighths, triplets or sixteenths - the "and" of the beat sounds a step above the other subdivisions, so a bar of sixteenths stays legible. Work in 2/4 through 12/8, or set any bar length from 1 to 16 beats. Pick from six clicks - Beep, Wood, Click, Rim, Cowbell and Hi-hat - all synthesised in the app, so there are no samples to load and nothing to download. SILENT PRACTICE Mute the click and keep the beat in your hand through haptics, or turn on the full-screen flash for loud rooms. TWO TRAINERS Tempo ramp walks the tempo between two marks while you play - up to push your limit, or down, because slower is harder. Step it every few bars or every few seconds. Gap click drops the click for whole bars so you carry the time yourself, then brings it back exactly where it should have been. SONGS AND SETS Save a tempo with its time signature, accents, click and notes under the tune's name. Duplicate a song to make the slower version of it. Search by name, or by what you wrote in the notes. Group songs into named sets for a gig or a lesson, put the sets in the order you play them, and move through a set with next and previous right on the metronome screen. APPLE WATCH The whole metronome on your wrist, running on its own, with the iPhone left in the case. Set the tempo with the Digital Crown. Tap the beat row to accent a beat. Change the time signature, the subdivision and the sound without leaving the screen. Your songs and sets arrive from the iPhone, both trainers are there, and the click keeps going when the screen goes dark. Which tap stands for the downbeat, and which for the other beats, is yours to choose - and you can feel a bar without the click before deciding. How much of a tap a wrist notices depends on the strap and the person, so it is a setting rather than a guess. The watch app comes with Tock Pro. SIRI AND SHORTCUTS "Start Tock at 120."
