About

[A kitchen knife for video.] An iOS app that extracts just the instrument performance from your recordings, keeping the original quality. When you record solo practice or ensemble sessions, conversation creeps in. We made this app so you can check just the performance right away — so the feel of what you just played is still fresh when you give yourself feedback. ToneCut cuts away the unnecessary parts and exports the rest in original quality (no re-encoding). [Three verbs, nothing else] - Record: faithful instrument dynamics - Cut: adjust the volume threshold with a slider - Export: save to your Photos library in original quality Nothing else. The app isn't designed to be a destination either. Take the cut video and upload it to YouTube, review your practice, share on social media — use it however you like. [For people who] - Upload practice videos to YouTube and review them - Want to extract highlights from long concert recordings - Hate silence-cut apps that re-encode and lose quality [Adjustable settings] - Video quality: Light (HD 720p) / Standard (Full HD 1080p) / High (4K) - Instrument range: High / Standard / Low (= overtone high-pass cut-off) - Audio mode: Preserve dynamics / Prevent clipping - Language: Japanese / English / Chinese - Power saving: Dim screen during recording (default OFF) [YouTube chapter export] Copy the cut segments as YouTube chapter text (m:ss format) for your description, making it easy for viewers to jump to highlights. [Privacy] No data collection. Recorded videos stay in your device's Photos library and are never sent anywhere. [Note from the author] A narrow purpose: cut instrument practice videos. We pared the features down to keep it simple. "Record and listen to it right away, on the spot" — that's the only thing we focused on. No notifications, no social features, no in-app purchases. A tool you launch when you need it, close when you're done. That's what we aimed for.
