Need the paid version
I was disappointed to discover that after about three goes, it no longer detected my tones! Despite the name of the app. Or rather it didn’t display them telling me to purchase the full version
Helpful for tone feedback
It’s useful to help you get feedback and a feel for the four tones. Once you have achieved that, then there is not much else on the app. Sometimes the pinyin does not match the sound being demonstrated. For me it was useful to help get the tones much better.
