Crash city

The TonePrint app crashes instantly anytime I connect my new Plethora X1 online support from TC is more or less non-existent.

Absolutely Disgusted By This Quality

This company has a great reputation, I mean it had a great reputation in the 90s from its 80s gear. I like about 90% of the stuff they do today but it all seems antiquated. No midi first off which is pathetic. And now I can’t even edit it.
I’ve used the desktop one and it crashes too. Every time I plug in a usb it crashes which is needed because the Bluetooth just doesn’t work.
I don’t know who they farmed this development out to but they underpaid and got scammed

PLEASE UPDATE!!!

The app is great, when it connects, which is about 50% of the time. It eventually will connect, but you often have to turn your Bluetooth on and off (on phone and/or pedal) before it connects. You’ll want to do all your testing and pedal setup before your session or performance- definitely not on the fly- it’s way too undependable. Hopefully TC can sort this out. It has so much potential!

Couldn’t be less functional

Every three or four months, I try and update the firmware and get access to the TonePrint app. As of April 2026, I still can’t access TonePrint in an online mode, which is necessary to update firmware. I’ve tried doing it on my laptop, it never connects. I used to be able to access the TonePrint app on my iPhone, and now it gives me an off-line access, which doesn’t let me do anything. I like in this application to a very soft bowel movement. Avoid this plethora one product like the plague.

One way communication, no ability to export TonePrints

This app is buggy and presents constant issues. But outside of the software being sub par, there are two MAJOR issues with it. First, there is no way to export TonePrints. Many issues with the app require deleting it and re-downloading it. So guess what, you lose all your TonePrints (presets). I’ve had to sit there and take screenshots of my settings so I could find a way to repeat them, which is insane. Additionally, the app communicates to the pedal, but not the other way around. E.g. if you have a Plethora X1 and load 14 different TonePrints into the slots, there’s no way to later figure out what you loaded into the pedal. You just have to remember, or name your TonePrints in a way that helps. My app currently isn’t connecting to my pedals, so I will have to delete and download it again, thus losing all of my presets. In 2026 this is beyond sub par.

FAQ

What does the TonePrint app do?

The TonePrint app allows you to beam custom sound profiles, called TonePrints, directly into compatible TC Electronic effects pedals. You can explore a vast library of artist-created tones, reassign knob functions, tweak parameters, and adjust EQ responses to personalize your sound.

How do I get TonePrints into my pedal?

You can beam TonePrints to your pedal using your phone's speakers. The app sends the sound profile directly into your guitar pickup, which then transmits it to the pedal. For some pedals, Bluetooth support is also available for direct connection.

Is the TonePrint app free to use?

Yes, the TonePrint app is completely free of charge and is not based on in-app purchases. You can access all its features and a constantly updated library of TonePrints without any cost.

Can I use the TonePrint app without an internet connection?

Yes, the app features cached files, meaning you can use it offline. This allows you to beam TonePrints and edit them even if you don't have internet access, such as when you're traveling.

What are the main benefits of using the TonePrint app?

The app provides unlimited access to a wide range of TonePrints, enabling you to discover new signature sounds. It offers deep editing capabilities, allows you to collect favorite tones for quick access, and works without requiring extra cables or an internet connection.
