Great app!

In addition to doing exactly what it claims, this app gives a very satisfying user experience. Simple to use, straightforward graphics and sounds, quick and easy calibration. And it gave me some surprisingly feedback-- when I tried hard turns on the way home, it told me I was much closer to slipping than I thought. So I went to a parking lot where I could safely skid, and found it was correct. Turns out I've been underestimating the combined effect of breaking and cornering. Also very illuminating to use it in the rain..... I'd love to try this on a go-kart track!

This is more like it

I recently tried out two other G meter apps that have audio feedback where the G value is read to you by voice, and I found the voice part highly annoying and so slow as to be useless. But these guys get it. the audio feedback is a beep that changes pitch and interval so you get quick response and sensitivity to the smallest changes. What I really like is that you can set the level the audio kicks in, so you don't hear anything until you exceed your setting. And you set your max Gs so it starts beeping like crazy right around the point where your car is starting to loose it. Very cool. I keep it in my sun visor and forget it's there until things get squirrelly. I can listen to music on my iphone too and I don't even know the app is running until it starts beeping over the stereo when I take a corner too fast. Then it just shuts up again and I am back to listening to my tunes.

Must have for all auto-enthusiast!

The application works surprisingly well. It uses a pretty simple concept, but works real well. I tried it in my Miata and after the calibration was done I put it through some exciting corners including a couple of drifts and the actual conditions and what the display/audio showed were very close. I also tried in my truck with very similar results (though I didn't manage to test it beyond breaking traction!). Just make sure it is mounted as solidly as possible. Overall a very nice application with lots of potential, worth every penny. I can't wait to try this on the track.

Review of Total Traction app

It's a simple yet elegant tool to allow anyone, amateur or professional, to improve their driving skills. It teaches smoother braking and cornering and tells you instantly if you're maintaining optimum and constant traction. I've driven Formula Super Vee and Formula Dodge and can assure you that this tool will raise your skill level.

Really improves driving

I bought this application at a friend's recommendation, and I'm glad I did. The disclaimer at startup is a little repetitive (it would be nice if it could get turned off), but I like the app! The simple view is just great for seeing how you're doing at a quick glance... and the audio feedback is amazing. I can take curves way faster now, and get audio feedback the whole time. If you want to be a skilled driver, get this app!
