Towncrier: Public Notices

IMPORTANT: Towncrier is an independent app made by AInovations LLC. IT IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government, and it does not represent any municipality or provide any government service. WHERE THIS INFORMATION COMES FROM Every notice in Towncrier is written and published by the municipality named on it, by that municipality's own verified staff. Towncrier does not copy, scrape, re-publish or summarise notices from any other website or feed. The municipality named on a notice is its source and its author. We do not write notices, edit them, or decide what a town publishes. A municipality appears in Towncrier only after it asks to join AND the person requesting it proves they are authorised to publish on that municipality's behalf. We verify that the body is a real government body and that the request comes from inside it. Towns that have not signed up are never added and never appear in the app. Official sources: every municipality publishing through Towncrier is listed here, each with a link to that municipality's own official website, so you can confirm the source directly: https://towncrier.ainovations.net/sources Towncrier SUPPLEMENTS official publication. It does not satisfy, and is not intended to satisfy, any legal publication requirement, and it does not replace the newspaper of record or any posting a municipality does today. Whether a notice has been validly published is a question for the municipality and its attorney. WHAT THE APP DOES Municipal notices are legally required to be published, but they are usually published somewhere nobody looks: a newspaper of record, a bulletin board in a hallway that is open Tuesdays, a PDF three clicks deep on a website that was last redesigned in 2016. People miss hearings about their own street. Follow your town and Towncrier tells you when it posts something. - Every notice your town publishes, in one place - A notification when something new is posted, never overnight - Mute the categories you do not care about, keep the ones you do - Meeting dates, hearing times and locations, in your town's own time zone - A town's full record, including notices that have already passed Board meetings, public hearings, road closures, bids, elections and legal notices - from the town that issued them. FOR MUNICIPAL STAFF Post from a phone or from the portal on a computer, with a tamper-evident record of everything published.
