About

TRACE is the logbook for doctors who don’t have time to keep a logbook. Talk through a case, procedure or clinical activity in your own words. TRACE turns the conversation into a structured logbook entry, asks about anything important you’ve missed, and saves you the paperwork. No need to remember which field comes next. Just describe what happened. TALK, DON’T TYPE Tell TRACE what happened — what you saw, what you did, and what you learned. TRACE extracts the relevant details and fills in the appropriate fields. If something important is missing, it asks. When you’re done, your entry is done too. BUILT FOR APPRAISAL TRACE is built around the evidence doctors need to maintain their professional portfolios. Log your clinical activity as you go, then use Insights to see your case mix, procedures, outcomes and supervision across the date range you choose. Your numbers are already counted when appraisal time comes around. WHAT YOU CAN LOG Ward reviews, admissions, intra- and extra-hospital transfers, cardiac arrests, trauma calls, procedures, intubations, CPD activity and discussions. Each template asks only for the information relevant to that type of activity. INSIGHTS & EXPORTS See your activity at a glance, including case mix, procedures, outcomes and supervision. Export your logbook as a formatted PDF or an Excel workbook with a separate sheet for each template. Choose the date range and leave out fields you would rather not share. YOUR LOGBOOK STAYS YOURS Your logbook is stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account. It never reaches TRACE’s servers. There are no accounts or passwords. TRACE does not receive or store your logbook. There is no advertising, analytics or crash reporting. DESIGNED FOR ANONYMOUS RECORDS TRACE is designed so that patient-identifying information is never required. Templates use an ages rather than a date of birth, and there is no patient-name field anywhere in the app. When you type, TRACE automatically checks for identifiers such as names, NHS numbers, dates of birth, postcodes and hospital numbers before anything is sent. Before you export, TRACE checks the file for information that looks identifiable and lets you remove it first. Face ID keeps your records secure. ON ALL YOUR DEVICES Use TRACE on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with your logbook kept in step through your own iCloud. Start an entry after a ward round and finish it at your desk. ABOUT THE VOICE ASSISTANT TRACE’s conversational voice assistant turns what you say into structured logbook fields. You can choose to type instead, with typed entries filtered for identifiers before they are sent, or turn the assistant off completely and use TRACE as a manual logbook. TRACE uses a paid Google Cloud account under a signed data processing agreement. Your input is not used to train Google’s models and is not reviewed by people. TRACE PRO TRACE Pro unlocks the voice assistant and the ability to add new entries, with a one-week free trial. If your subscription ends, everything already in your logbook remains available. You can still read, search and export your existing records. Your records are yours. IMPORTANT TRACE is a personal logbook for recording professional activity. It is not a medical device, not a patient record, and not a substitute for your organisation’s clinical systems. TRACE Pro • Monthly (£4.99) or Yearly (£39.99) • Unlocks the voice assistant and adding new entries. Reading, searching and exporting your existing logbook always keep working, including if a subscription lapses. • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. What's New in TRACE Logbook

1.1.0

September 29, 2026

iOS / Mac — general release notes: Shifts and absences A new Attendance section keeps your rota alongside your cases. Log a short day, long day, night or weekend shift, or an absence with its reason and dates. Enter a run of shifts in one go, duplicate a shift with a long press, and see your attendance rate on the Overview and Insights pages. Shifts and absences are colour-coded in the logbook and filterable. Placements Your hospital, rotation, grade and specialty are now a dated history rather than a single current value. Entries are labelled with the placement covering the date of the case, not the date you logged it — so writing up last month's work after changing hospital finally records the right one. Picked up cover somewhere else? Tick "Temporary cover" on any entry and set the hospital yourself. Better exports Shifts and absences appear as their own tables and sheets, so you can send an appraiser your absences without four hundred rows of rota. Choose which tables to include at all, not just which columns. Cases are now grouped under the placement they were worked in, and the spreadsheet carries the hospital and rotation on every row. Talk to Trace in your own language Trace now speaks and understands ten languages, including Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and Bengali. The app's screens stay in English. Also fixed Trace no longer drifts into another language mid-conversation. The export privacy check now lets you open a flagged entry, confirm it's fine, and reverse that later. Fewer false alarms on ordinary words like "Patient" and "Kept".
