About
TradMate is an offline notation, practice and accompaniment tool for Irish traditional musicians and session players.
Explore a bundled library of over 23,000 tunes and multiple ABC versions, with notation and rating data sourced from The Session (thesession.org). Search by tune name, filter by dance type, and organize the versions you want to play. You can also paste ABC notation you are authorized to use into your local library.
Key features:
• Save favourites and rate individual versions from zero to five stars
• Build sets and setlists with custom order, repeats and tempo
• Replace a tune version within a set, or transpose a set entry with a preview relative to its original key
• Practise with staff notation, numbered notation or ABC notation
• Follow playback automatically, seek to a bar, and use a practice count-in
• Listen in Player Mode with a continuous queue
• Share sets and setlists and export generated scores or audio
• Use Light, Dark or System appearance, with English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean interfaces
Accompaniment is generated from the ABC notation on your device. TradMate parses notes, meter, repeats and tempo, analyzes harmony and creates instrument parts using dance-specific and instrument-specific rules. Piano, guitar, fiddle, button accordion and bodhrán each have their own rhythm, ornament and performance behavior. Adjust instruments, volume, panning, dynamics and harmonic richness to suit your practice.
Playback synthesizes the generated performance using bundled instrument samples. It does not download backing tracks or commercial recordings. Optional MP3 export renders the same locally generated performance, rather than converting audio from an online service.
This iOS version has no audio-recognition models, microphone access or The Session user-ID import. No account or additional resource download is required for core functions. Imported notation and your collections remain on your device unless you explicitly share them. Source attribution and third-party license texts are available offline in Settings > Information. Please import and share only material you have the right to use.
