Mapping with dignity and accountability
As a settler living in what is now canada, my privilege has led me into doing a phd (Indigenous studies and geography)trying to see how relationships with the land can guide settlers to better support Indigenous Resurgence/Sovereignty while also mitigating climate change’s impacts locally. After being introduced to Trailmark from a WSANEC community member, this app has become me only mapping tool. being able to install it easily with community members working with me (Indigenous and settlers) while protecting data and keeping it secure is fantastic, and the front end is very intuitive (it is very Elder friendly). The back end for someone like me with not much programming experience the back end has confused me from time to time but the Trailmark team have always been there to guide me through the learning and help when something is just too technical for me. Grateful to the team.
