Wrong sounds

I've just downloaded this but found that one of the letters made the wrong sound (r sound for an l) and it also asked for the word 'baag' to be spelled out using 'b' 'o' 'g'. Plain wrong and not helpful for learning to read

Overall very pleased

My son loves trains so this is perfect for him. One of his favorite things to do is make the train repeat the word, over and over and over again. He also likes to touch each letter repeatedly to hear the sound each letter says. He has known his letters and sounds for a while now and he still finds this engaging.

That said, I'd like to see two changes. First, could the engine say the word and the individual cars say the sound? We talk about isolating the sounds of CVC words. For example, "What is the first sound you hear?" I think it would be nice to have a way for the player to check it out.

Engine: cat
1st car: /k/
2nd car: /a/
3rd car: /t/

Secondly, could a picture of the word ride the train? Unless you are using nonsense syllables, I think a visual of the word would be a lovely addition to the app.

Overall, I am very pleased with this app. A few changes would make it spectacular.

Kids

Train is too loud and voice is too soft! Help! Fix and it is 5 stars for sure. We had to quit using this app because the kids cannot hear the word.

Great concept but limited

This is an excellent app for reinforcing the skills of blending and segmenting using cvc words. Unfortunately it is very limited in that as a parent or teacher you can't go in and track progress and see sounds that are common errors for example. It would also be good to have words with four or more sounds, including consonant and vowel digraphs. I really expected more from an app that you have to pay for, this is pretty basic, however the idea and rehearsal of these essential skills is just what pre-schoolers need.

Hmmmm!

Apart from a mistake on the second word that you are asked to spell this App looks like a perfect little game to give some daily practice of Cvc word spelling. However I can not for the life of me work out what the point of teaching phonics is if the pronunciation of the word changes the vowel sounds completely when spoken. This is for kids! Surely more thought should have gone into this. Also what is with the lazy choice of font. Some letters like a just aren't suitable for early phonics learners. Maybe they are in America.
