Great selection of languages, sadly only Mindless memorization

This is a terrible app method wise; the content is basic, a “translation” is given but nothing to break down what you’re learning. So outside of the one specific sentence you mindlessly memorized, your vocab is useless. Why couldn’t they take the time to break down each word? I’m learning quichua, which seems to be one of those languages with compounds added to your root word. It’s really hard to grasp the how’s and why’s of what I’m saying with absolutely no explanation, I’m simply observing certain endings keep popping up, what do they mean? I have to guess. Languages don’t often translate literally, but as a learner it helps to get the literal translation to start seeing how this language is set up and “thinks”. I gave it two stars because it has many obscure languages, is user friendly to get started, has lots of nice track your progress features, and is free through most USA libraries. But the core content is painful and barely helpful. If they would invest in a little more explanation of the actual content, what it actually means, gramatical structures, etc. this could be a good app. But the main point of the app (learning a language) is currently so poorly thought out it feels like a side note

Really wanted to like this

App is barely usable. Takes tens of seconds to switch screens. And I’m in broadband at home. Their content is good, but their development and engineering are horrible.

Completely non-functional

I opened the old app recently for the first time in awhile, and was prompted to download this version. It is completely non-functional. Attempts to open any lesson return "Error: Request failed: internal server error (500)." The online lessons in a browser are fantastic, but this app is useless as-is.

Opened once now will not open

When the app worked it functioned well and provided an excellent learning format. Same failure occurred on both iPad and iPhone.

Paid course required with little content

This is the app to be used with paid online course from Transparent Language. It is indeed a methodical approach to
the very basics of the language you select, but there isn't much content, and some of the exercises are annoying. Game of concentration, really? If you're going to spend money on your language course go for something with more content.
