Good attempt but buggy
Faithful to the original from the 1970s with some modern enhancements.
But bugs interfere with gameplay.
Also, there perhaps are lost opportunities to do more with modern U.I., graphics and gameplay.
Some of this may have been intentional to maintain the spirit of the original (such as requiring a heading to shoot torpedoes instead of simply tapping on the target).
It’s fun for a trip down memory lane for gamers who played this back in the 1970s and 1980s — especially if you typed in the code from David Ahl’s book and converted it to your computer’s version of Basic.

Fantastic game!
This game is awesome I recommend it to any and everyone, it's great on my iPhone 4S, but my iPad 2 is where it's at it's best, the controls are so much better on the iPad, and to anyone that says its crap cause it crashes, have you tried rebooting your device? Anyways great game, I'd love to see more things added, like multiplayer, I think it would be awesome to play with someone else, either with two ships or one player controlling certain systems and the other controlling the other systems, I'd also love to see and endless mode, where you have random generated enemies and no stardate that you have to complete it by, I give the game 5*, it works flawlessly and is incredibly fun!

I enjoyed this game... But I wish there was some kind of screen that says that you win or you lose...if seems to just go back to the screen where you select rank. Might be a bug...

Fun for old geeks
If you are like me, and play the old Star Trek game in the late 70's and early 80's, you'll enjoy this a lot. Still the same game, just fancier graphics. I used to play this game on a printer console, god I wasted a lot of paper. It's fun to relive those memories.

Just plain horrible. I'm so ticked off I payed for this game I want to punch myself in the nuts. And I'm a huge trek fan. What a disappointment.
Only 2 Stars - Sad Attempt
As a trekkie fan, I saw the poor reviews but bought anyway. I am hoping the developers read these reviews and update the app accordingly.
Let's start with the graphics interface - Very Trek like in look and feel, but some panels do not work as described. In particular, the Shields panel does not set properly. You can input your shield strength setting, but the display does not update properly. Try to make a change to that setting and nothing happens. And your shield are VERY IMPORTANT.
Movement - A simple 8x8 grid for movement in quadrant or galaxy mode work well, but the display is just too simplistic for what is listed as an HD app.
Energy - Everything drains ship power. But trying to find a display for balancing power consumption versus benefit is not simple and not consolidated. You have to plunk around and around ... considering the power of the iPad, one would think you could have more detailed "panels" ...
Bottomline ... over priced, limited content, but a good start ... save your money and wait for more content or upgrades.

Crash issues
Keeps crashing to the difficulty-select screen. Frustrating, because the interface (although a bit busy) is true to the franchise and the gameplay mechanics seem reasonable enough. Were this a stable release, this would easily garner 4 or 5 stars from me.

Great Concept that needs fixing
I agree that there are crash issues but the concept should appeal to fans of the Next Generation. It really makes you feel like your operating Worf's and Data's stations during battle.
Besides crashing it really needs to be made easier. The trainee mode is simply to hard. When you travel to another quadrant you're destroyed before you even have a chance to reset your shield strength. Also, My targeting scanner showed I was locked on an enemy vessel and instead I destroyed the star base in the next square.
