Latest update made game much worse

It’s a really good 500 app—but a brand new update makes it far less playable. The change in question—limiting the ability to leave a game you just joined, and then join a different game. I understand why the authors *think* this was a good idea, but it’s ignoring the real problem. Why are people frequently quitting “Play” games and joining new ones? The most common reason is that most of the time the software puts someone in a game, they get inserted into a situation where their team is already down 300 or more points, or is well on the way to being there because of a ridiculously poor bid by their partner (usually a bot). If you really want to reduce the number of players leaving games early—instead of blocking them from joining new games, STOP PUTTING THEM IN POOR GAME SITUATIONS WHEN THEY FIRST JOIN. Perhaps allow players to set in their preferences that they only join new games, instead of games in progress. Or that they only join games where they have a human partner. Don’t penalize them for not wanting to continue a game where they’ve been put at a very unfair disadvantage by the game itself.

Good, but AI could use some work

Nice app to have if you enjoy 500. But do the live game play over practice. Folks who wrote the AI not very adept at playing the game, no finesse, no knowledge on how to play NT, poor bidding.

Great when working

Most of the time I get “Unable to Connect”. It seems when I’m able to connect most others are sleeping or doing other things rather than playing an app on their computer. It was a great game, useless now.
Even worse than when I first wrote the above paragraph.

stable, comprehensive variations

this app works well and has great features. fairly easy to use and has a lot of nice variations.

Fun

I’m having a good time!

Fun game with variations

It’s fun but has variation from what I’m used to. Partner has never picked up on my hint. Actually really enjoy playing.
Some players are very sloe to bid or play a card.
Could be a case of a computer acting up.

Don’t Download. Defective Computer Players. Petty Money grab

Avoid this product. While there are many nice options, the Computer/AI/Bot players are poorly programmed and are terrible players.

When you join a game there’s likely not going to be four real players available, so you’re often going to find yourself paired with a Bot partner that constantly sabotages your game due to its stupidity/incompetence.

I wrote the developers to see if they are doing anything about this, but they said “no”. They also said “We know that out games are better when played with real people”.

This is madness, especially since decent players could be configured relatively easily (see Special K Software’s 500 game for Windows that has excellent AI players).

Bottom line, they know this is a problem, but don’t care, they’re likely just trying to get more people to make purchases of in-game “chips” for real money instead.

You cards will be garbage unless you do.

Fun but a couple requests

Really fun and nice to have variations. Don’t like how you join the middle of a hand without knowing what cards have even been played and not enough time to acclimate. Not fair to anyone. Computer bids are awful (8 with no trump power) and they often bid over their human partner for a 20-40 point differential and then fail to make the bid, which no human would do unless they had a guaranteed win. But other players are nice and really fun game.

Fun. Clever. Addictive

Love it

Good outlet

Good diversion from the same old routine during social distancing. The “computer” doesn’t always seem to bid wisely though.

500 App

Great way to connect with friends during this pandemic.

Can’t play off line

Great game but burns data and you can’t play it off line. And all the ads are videos so that really eats up data.

Love it

I love trickster cards app. It's a phenomenal free app. I hope they don't go crazy with ads in the future. Perfect for games with friends or other players! Great job trickster!!!

Great App

This app is a great way to hone your 500 skills! The computer players are not bad, and it’s great when a real player joins the game.

Best out there, but needs some work.

Nice to have an app with the American (5-card widow) version. The (practice game using computer players) bidding algorithm needs some work, as most bids are 8, even if the bidder doesn't hold the joker or a bower. Cards don't always fall as you plan them, but you shouldn't be missing a bid by 3 tricks. I am very glad it recognizes when opponents are out of trump and stops leading it. Other apps do not; very frustrating! The cards are easy to see and it's nice to be able to set the pace of play. Overall a good app; soon (I hope) to be a great app!
