About
Truth Capture records legal proceedings and transcribes them on the iPhone itself. No connection required.
Court reporters work in rooms where the signal is unreliable and a proceeding cannot be run again. Truth Capture records to the phone and produces a readable preliminary transcript while you are still in the room, using on-device speech recognition. Nothing is uploaded to do it, and nothing needs a network.
RECORDING
• Records to the phone, in the background, with the screen locked
• Live transcript on screen as the proceeding runs
• Elapsed time and input level, so you can see it working
• Survives a phone call, and survives the app being killed mid-recording
THE PRELIMINARY TRANSCRIPT
• Produced on the device, with word-level timings
• Readable immediately — before you leave the courthouse
• Superseded automatically once the recording is processed in full
WHEN YOU ARE BACK ONLINE
• Recordings upload in the background to your Truth Transcription account
• The recording is transcribed again with speakers separated by microphone
• Editing, exports and delivery happen on a computer, where that work belongs
A phone recording is a backup and a draft. The court transcript is produced from equipment audio on a computer, and Truth Transcription can replace the phone recording with that audio in the same session.
Requires an existing Truth Transcription account. Accounts are created by an administrator; write to us if your firm does not have one yet.

Jobs: file each recording under the hearing or deposition it belongs to, and export the whole job's transcript as one document. Read-back: pause a recording to play back what was just said, then resume. Nothing already captured is ever written over. Export from the device: share the audio and the rough on-device transcript, as PDF or text, from a recording's page. iPad: Truth Capture now runs on iPad, with the transcript beside the controls while you record.
