Tune Maker User Reviews

Doesn't work with latest iOS

It's not possible to create new projects on the phone / iPad internal storage nor iCloud. Clicking the plus symbol does nothing so you're stuck on that screen.

Is it just a file browser?

Can’t figure out how to start a song. Looks like a file browser only

Supremely useful

I am probably not the typical user but I need something for jotting down riffs and rough ideas. I've tried everything I could find and this is the best option there is for me. Super easy to use as well.

Poor documentation. Useless.

A blank sheet of paper would be more helpful. A very poor interface. Rudimentary and clunky.

Hi. You can find user manual in the settings. The manual covers all the screen of the app with detailed screenshots and descriptions. If you have any questions feel free to contact me by the support email. Dmitry

Super Underrated

This APP is AMAZING. My favorite for sketching out super quick grooves. The way it host AUs is amazing. This developer is among the very creme de la creme on iOS. I suspect a great many people are missing out on this app.

Not the tool I thought it would be

I wish I could have demo’d this. I would not have bought it. Wasted my $. I was hoping the app allowed for playing chords underneath the track and compose melodies over it.

Response from developer

Hi! Tune Maker allows you to create parts of your composition in any order. You can start from melody, drums or chords. If you want to create chords first, it is perfectly fine. After creating the chord track though you should add some arpeggio track which is the rhythmic pattern of your chord track. For additional detail please look at the manual. If you have any questions please contact me by the support email. Best wishes, Dmitry

So much potential here...

This app is fantastic for writing songs. The ability to structure parts and arrange harmony over chords in a simple, powerful, clear where you can control and see where and how your parts interact with each other is unparalleled in my opinion.

I prefer this approach over the novel ChordFlow app by the same developer. However, it would appear that it is still early days for this app. You can export midi and output midi to to virtual sources and au extensions but the implementation of these features seems incomplete.

So from my experience, the only real way to use this at the moment is with internal sounds and export the midi to your DAW of choice. If this suits you then I recommend this app. If you are looking for inter-app connectivity then this app has a way to go.

Looking forward to future releases with Audiobus, AUM, proper AU extension hosting, and full Ableton Link support.

Simply amazing!

It’s so much fun to sketch out songs with Tune Maker. I had a four part song in less than 15 minutes. Exported the MIDI to NanoStudio 2 with a couple of taps, and it was ready to be worked into a complete track. There are quite a few song making apps on the App Store, but this is the first one that’s felt so easy and natural to use. Highly recommended!

Awesome tool

Love this for on the go / road composing but please add a audio export option.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review! Export to Audio is on the roadmap. All the best!

Very clever compositional tool

This is a nifty resource for song writers and designed well to write on the go as the iPhone experience is very good. Gave me some different angles to work in a tune I was struggling with--I'll very often refine a tune elsewhere but this is a great sketching tool for me.

Thank you for a kind review. Have a good day! Dmitry

Superb for outlining ideas

Now this app is a one-off - very reasonable - price, it has become well worth supporting. Highly versatile, easy to use and great for sketching out musical ideas. Works equally well for sonic dabblers and trained musicians.

My new favorite composing tool

Love this dev, insane capabilities for writing music.

Very good first impressions

Just starting to dig in, so far so good! will come back and adjust accordingly but I am giving 4 stars off the bat based on a super clean and straightforward User Manual and the facet the developer is attempting to address a big need for lots of iOS musicians which is having a stable way to compose and record and structure full songs. It’s easy to either get stuck making loops that never go anywhere or get lost in frustration trying to use one of the major DAWs. So far I’m really hopeful this could be a great balance of the two and so far the UI looks simple and beautiful. Still a new app so I will update if need be but I wanted to support a developer who seems to be trying and the one review about it just being a file share screen is wrong and should not be the first thing people see here. Cheers

Thank you for a nice review. I am working hard to make the app useful and stable. Feel free to contact me if you have any issues or suggestion. All the best, Dmitry

It just opens my files folder on my iPad

Not sure what this app because it only opens my file folder.

Response from developer

Hi! Tune Maker is a document-based app. So when you open the app it shows you the standard file browser view containing your recent projects. When you open the app the first time, there are no project files yet. To create a new project, just tap on the plus button and you will see the actual Tune Maker's interface. You can find more information in the user manual at https://tunemaker.app/manual. All the best, Dmitry
