About
A free chromatic tuner with no ads, no account and no settings screen.
Play a note. A line for every semitone scrolls with your pitch, like the lines of a staff, while the note stays in the middle of the screen. When you are in tune, the note sits right on its line. Above the line is sharp, below is flat, and the gap is how far off you are.
GREEN, WHITE OR RED
The note name and the signed cents sit on the left. Within ±5 cents they turn green, within ±15 cents they are white, and beyond that, red. The number is always exact, to the whole cent.
CALM, NOT JUMPY
Small flickers are smoothed while a note holds, and the lines follow at once when your pitch moves. They glide between measurements and never past them.
FROM BASS TO FLUTE
Every semitone from A0 (27.5 Hz) to A6 (1,760 Hz), in equal temperament. Concert pitch from 430 to 450 Hz, starting at 442 Hz. Each line shows its frequency.
NOTHING TO SET UP
It starts listening as soon as you open it, and learns the room's background sound by itself while you are not playing. The screen stays on while the microphone is on, so it does not go dark on a music stand.
OVER OTHER APPS
Tap the button at the top right for a small window with just the note and its cents, which stays on screen over other apps, such as your sheet music. The microphone keeps listening while it is shown. Pause the window, or close it from another app, to switch the microphone off.
PRIVATE
Sound from the microphone is analyzed on your iPhone as it arrives and never recorded, stored or sent. The microphone is used only while the app or its small window is on screen, and you can turn it off with one tap. No ads, no tracking, no account, no data collected.
Not yet included: notes for B-flat and E-flat instruments, a reference tone, and temperaments other than equal temperament.

Picture in Picture: tap the new button at the top right to keep a small window with the note and its cents over other apps, such as your sheet music. The microphone keeps listening while the window is shown. Pause the window, or close it from another app, to switch the microphone off. The microphone button is easier to see: a white microphone on a grey circle while listening, dimmed while a note is read, and red on a white circle when off.
