How can they screw up a Compass?
Response from developer
Sorry about that. A ~49° error means the compass is reading the phone's raw magnetometer without a good calibration, which nearby metal, cases, or tilting the phone can throw off badly. Two quick things help right now: hold the phone flat and wave it in a figure-8 to recalibrate, and step away from metal/electronics. We're also reworking it to use the phone's built-in calibrated true-north heading so it lines up with a real compass. Thanks for flagging it.
